Yeah from what i noticed the higher resolution (i play at 2560×1600) and higher settings and more taxing it gets for CPU not GPU the memory leak gets more obvious… it somehow has to do with shadows… people at skyrim forums are saying that shadows are CPU generated instead GPU generated. Made like this for consoles since they have stronger cpu than gpu, and it seems bethesda didnt make PC version optimised they just left it as it is… That kinda bums my ass… How did they discover it? quite simply as you raise shadow quality cpu utilisation goes up and gpu falls down – pretty self explanatory… I thought this could be the first game they didnt half-ass, i guess i was wrong. They used child model from fallout3, you cant run into a chicken lmao reaction is as if you hit the cement pole… Cmon bethesda like its hard to script the damn chicken to run away form under the legs clucking loudly… Little details but the whole game is made out of details… im dissapointed honestly, even though the game is awesome, the mass of fcukups they made makes it so much less pleasurable to play… becuase you can feel this game was rushed out to hit the 11/11/11 instead take care of how it actually works?!?! BIG MISTAKE 🙁
I have no idea how Blizzard is pulling it off but i personally cant find much things i can complain about there. Their games seem so polished to every detail… Wish bethesda was so… 🙁
November 13, 2011 at 6:25 pm #104574Robert McNayParticipantThere was an article on ZDNet about why PC games are hamstrung these days. If the game is design for both computers and consoles, the PCs get shortchanged because current ones are more powerful and up-to-date than the consoles. The PS3 is 5 years old and the Xbox is 6, putting them at least a couple of generations behind the current state-of-the-art PC.
The author used a new shooter that released in the past couple of weeks as an example.
I think it was Uncharted 3it was Call of Duty 3. The company had to lock the field of view to only 80 to 90 degrees because that’s all a PS3 or Xbox could handle, even though a SotA PC could do 150 to 180 degrees. The frame rate was also locked down because the consoles can’t handle as high of a rate as a new PC GPU.Microsoft and Sony have neglected their boxes and that unfortunately screws the PC gamer.
Update: I finally found the article (ZDNet’s search function really sucks)

November 14, 2011 at 4:09 am #104579TC2ParticipantThis has been happening with a lot of PC games, where pretty much the developers create it for the consoles first, then they port it over to the PC.
I’ve heard of the word consolized before in other games, but never did that statement ring more true with Skyrim. The way they laid out the menu, intro, and how there’s little icons that say “enter” or “tab” with a square around it just scream console port.
It seems that like always, the developers took the fastest way and cheapest way to get the game out by building it primarily for the consoles, and then tweaking it slightly to be compatible for PC. The game Call of Duty Black Ops had the same problem. Thankfully I upgraded my motherboard, CPU, GPU, and proecessor so I’m not running into memory leaks, but I am disappointed with how lazy they released this game.
I’m hoping that they were just running out of time and wanted to release it quickly, so maybe a few patches will fix the game up. I’ve never played an Elder Scrolls game that didn’t need some patches to fix bugs when it’s released.

Oh by the way, this is just a texture change, no mesh edit, right?
November 14, 2011 at 8:35 am #104581TigersanParticipantThe thing with Call of duty was I havent even noticed those things playing it, so i cant complain
Black ops, Modern warfare, were badass to play, Battlefield3 is a port too but it looks like a CHARM! I
was blown away by the graphics… So its not only the fault of the consolization, its also the company’s fault that they didnt plan ahead that they will need more time to polish the game for PC use…Heres my post on Bethesda forums…
http://forums.bethsoft.com/index.php?/topic/1262873-what-you-hope-to-see-in-the-next-patch/page__st__20__gopid__19203370I think I went a little overboard, but I just really dont like to be suckered… 🙁
It’s one of my fav titles along with Fallout3, I’m dissapointed that they piss on us basically…:cries:
lol no I’m not really crying hehe, I guess I’m just gonna have to forget about it and enjoy what i have.
Better than nothing…@Solarian – yeah just the textures… 😉 For now
November 30, 2011 at 9:00 am #104830TigersanParticipantUpdate on the muscle mod v1.2 check it out…
http://skyrimnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=44
2 versions available, soft and chiseled… Chiseled is pretty
much the one I released first, I just added more toned
down/realistic one.November 30, 2011 at 12:20 pm #104831TC2ParticipantExcellent job Tiger! I think I’m using the original chiseled one, the only thing that threw me off was that her hands also came off pretty veiny but in a masculine way. But either way, still using it and waiting for the construction set to come out for some REAL mods!
