I know it's bad practise to revive dead topics, but I didn't know where else to post this, and didn't feel it warrented a new post on it's own.
I just occured to me why there has never been a proper growth sequence involving the feet in movies or tv. The only film I remember having a scene where the feet actually burst out the fronts of the footwear was called "Vice Versa", and you guessed it, they were male feet. For the movie the trainers he was wearing in the sequence must have been specially weakened somehow, and then when they shot the scene he probably pushed his feet forward through them while they were held in place by something, and with the weakened state of the fronts his feet would burst through them, creating the effect that his feet had grown too big for them and outgrown them.
The reason they never do this with a woman, is most likely because it would hurt their feet. As women normally have slender, dainty feet lacking any kind of strength of build compared to that of a man's, they would hurt a great deal more and just not have the power to generate a similar effect, as the feet would have to be pushed quite a bit to do such a thing.
Of course, it was also a man in the new "HULK" movie which had shoe and sock rippage, but that was different because it was computer generated. This could be easily done for a woman, but at the moment, at least in my opinion, computer graphics haven't quite yet mastered the ability of creating photo-realistic people. (or anything organic, for that matter).
The last resort would be to use special-effects, in the form of a fake anamatronic model foot. This could be designed to expand in size when needed, and would be strong enough to burst out of specially weakened footwear. This would be an excellent option, and one which could create very realistic results (with the technology with have today) but would be very expensive, and for movies on a budget, not really worth it for just one short scene in a movie.
That's at least my quite extensive theory of it. Probably a little too much to think about, but then I've always been known as a deep thinker. I probably have too much time on my hands.March 27, 2006 at 6:33 am #11917TolanParticipantThere was growth shot of a woman's foot in Attack of the 50 foot Woman. I think it was a remake…don't think a black and white version would show that….I could be wrong tho. It was a very brief shot…one or two seconds, max.

When I first saw the movie I could have sworn her toes popped out, but I was wrong. Having seen the longer version all it was, was her moving her foot in the show.

There were growth scenes in The Incredible Shrinking Woman, also.
March 28, 2006 at 2:29 pm #11920AndroxiParticipantYeah, I know about these, I've seen just about every female foot growth scene there is, the AOTFFW scene, the ISW scene, even the Moon Princess scene. I've seen all the growth scenes in animation too, (the best one of all being the scene with Starfire in the season two episode "Transformation").
That's why I'm posting about it here.
(What really peeved me the most about shows, like the original 70's Incredible Hulk show, and the mid 90's Incredible Hulk animation for example, is how they showed in great detail the transformation scene of Bruce Banner, but hardly anything when it came to Jen Walters. (which was at least better than the original show, where they didn't include Jen at all)). It's almost as if they can only do it with men and not women, that's what I'm annoyed about the most. When I say this, I don't just mean short seconds of scene where the feamel actor wiggles her toes around in her shoe, or when it tears slightly, I mean in depth transformation scenes, which they have done many times already with men, but not once properly with a woman. I'm trying to find the logic behind just why they are incapable of doing it when it comes to women. The strongest reason for it that I can find is it's to do with PC state, they don't want to offend women or show something too saucy, so they just don't attempt it at all.March 28, 2006 at 2:35 pm #11921PlakkarParticipantAndroxi, your an asshole, you sure try hard to get banned, yet somehow you haven't been yet, and the sooner that you are, the better for the rest of us.
