A buddy of mine and I created a character. He saw her more as toned, I saw her more as incredibly overpowering and tall (like an Amazon, but with both breasts). So here was my sketch of her, one older (left), one younger (right): http://www.deviantart.com/view/20071758/
And just to show you, here’s his latest incarnation of her: http://davemoodie.com/img/art/dc135.jpg (younger)
http://davemoodie.com/img/art/dc116.jpg (older)And while you’re here, would you comment on this picture? It’s a slightly different style than I’m used to: http://www.deviantart.com/view/20327994/

as for the different style, she’s very cute! besides the face being a bit oddly shifted, the body is very well constructed! (lol…as if I know about any of this…)
July 9, 2005 at 9:34 pm #7538AnonymousGuestBlech, I hate the face.
I guess posting a muscular incarnation of our character in a muscle-friendly forum would have a bias 😀 I just wanted to show you his version as she’s our character.
Still, though, I say that muscles are more frightening to the average person on a woman. It’s like the woman shed her femininity…that you will receive NO mercy. I thought that would make a better villianess.

Hmph. . .
Good to see someone knows their History.
Or, mores to the point, their Ancient Greek propoganda. As for your drawings: you are still have difficulty with proportions. Especially in the last (non muscle work). It also appears that her shoulder is not part of her body and is merely attached as if it were a doll’s limb.
Your lines and faces are fair though.
Peace

July 11, 2005 at 8:38 am #7542higalackParticipantWow, i honestly don’t see problems with how the faces are. Im guessin its how the creator views their own art. I definitely like to be able to create a more realistic illustrative style like that.
But i agree with pimp about the first pic. As teh anatomy and proportions are off. In the first one with the the area where the abs end and the end of teh groin area is too short. This also makes here torso too small for here arms, but im not sure if u where goin for more human proportions there, because of those ears. I guess that since u wanted to stay proportional the legs end up shortended as well.
If u have issues wiht proportion u can try measuring things in the head height of ur character. See how many heads it takes to reach the end of the torso to the crotch area. This should also let u stretch out the legs abit more.
Hope my comments were helpful, and keep drawing.

As for the anatomy problems on the sketches, I do appreciate it and will try to keep it in mind as much as possible, but do know that these were done in pen so I couldn’t erase anything. 🙂

Hmmm not frightening, I’d say the correct word is intimidating – and the truth be known large, well developed muscles on anyone, male or female, can be both impressive and very intimidating, especially so if you add in an above average height factor. Psychologically, it’s all in the aura you want to visually project for yourself, however, the persona within can easily disarm this effect with a friendly, good-natured smile . . . 8)

But don’t be discouraged, I’e learned that when someone tells you that you can’t do something, you should take that as a defy and try harder 😉 -
