Whenever my self-esteem needs a pick-me-up, I have a bad habit of looking at old comments. And every time I read or re-read a kudo or praise, it warms the cockles of my heart. I cherish each one like a jewel, and your good words really make my day. And I'm grateful for each one.
But there are ten that have particularly stayed with me. Here they are, and why they made the list:
#10: alex on Dyna Meets M15+4 H4X0R!!!11oneone
LOL! I sooooo hate this t33n4ge-g33k language! Anyway, I enjoy a good super-heroine story (plus, this Dyna sounds hot!). Please continue.
I took an ordinary thing that everyone could relate to (computer jerk irritation), and it roped someone into reading. Glad we connected there, alex.
#9: AlexG on Like a Weed (A Tetsuko Fanfic) — w/Part 8: The Jig Is Up…As with DCM, I normally prefer to wait until a few chapters are posted before commencing upon a story – however, this is a rare exception that now I would have preferred to start much soon upon partaking of your most excellent work, Sir JD!
Hey, the important thing is you were in on it, and you said something. I understand waiting until the work is done. And I'm glad that I got the forum's Posting King's approval.
Meanwhile, at Brawna.org…
#8: Cowprobe on For Their Own Good, Part 1Cool build up
On January 8th, 2007 Cowprobe says:A gradual sweep of the mundane to the amazing.
You keep writing and I'll keep reading.
Okay, he was one of my original fans. But still, it's good to know how I'm doing the job right.
Meaner-while at my deviantArt site…
#7: Garnet-43 on China Will Grow LargerI am always on the look-out for grammatical errors and typos in whatever I read, but I found ABSOLUTELY NONE in your work. It's perfect.
Well, truth is, I double checked that edition later, and discovered I'd made three or four that needed correction. ^^;;;
And here's something I'd never dreamed I'd feel good about:
#6: Too Many People on Power Play to hit the silver screen!
JIMMYDIMPLES, YOU *BLEEEEEEP*!!!
Heh heh hee! ;D Mean little punk, ain't I? I never dreamed getting my lineage insulted like that would be so fun or worth it!
Shame it was all an April Fool's joke… ah, well, nice to dream.
#5: Cowprobe on Power Play, Part 3
I think Monty Bank is now my favorite FMG story male protagonist.
He's the character that uses his wits since his fists have been sucked to mush by the orbital strength drain.
I take particular pride in that one. In the face of woman being the dominator over the male, I decided to zig where other authors zagged and made the hero, Monty, the driving force behind the story DESPITE being a physical runt. And it paid off, IMNSHO. 8)
The next bit, though, is pretty humbling, BION:
#4: dcmatthews on Dyna Meets Mezaros
You write this stuff better than I do!!
Eagerly awaiting more… 8)
:-[ *sigh* To quote the Million Dollar Man Ted DiBiase (not necessarily in this order), "You don't spit in the wind, you don't write a check your butt can't cash… and you don't stand on Superman's cape."
David created and drew some magnificent characters. So wonderful, it drew out a lot of writing from me. If it weren't for him, my writing list would be a lot smaller. So I gotta give my props to DCM. And thanks. *bows*
#3: Masschine on The Stray
A nice story but the constant meowing drove me meowing nuts. 😀
I appreciate the honesty, and how it was told with humor. It's nice to be told what works, but even better to know what doesn't so you can fix it next time.
But when you get EVERYTHING right in a description, folks…
#2: Fonk on Like a Weed (A Tetsuko Fanfic) — Part 6 Now Up… And Up…
Mlam.
Glah.
*thud*
This pretty much says everything.
And the kind comment that I like most of all?
Surprisingly, it's from one guy that's made only one comment EVER.#1: saotomeproject on Great honking fleejeebers! (in the thread Power Play, part 4)
😯
It's an FMG story with enough plotline and characterization that you could even consider mailing it to a non-FMG-fetishist member of the female half of the species!
We are not worthy.
"There, I've said it, I feel better."
And so do I, saotome. Thanks very kindly, wherever you are.
And I thank all of you that had make kind comments and encouragement to my works. Sorry if yours isn't on here, but do remember, I AM most grateful for your feedback, good or bad. Every bit. And I hope you'll keep on encouraging those writers who keep cranking out good quality work.
Thanks. Here's hoping for 900 more posts. 🙂
July 24, 2007 at 4:25 pm #56432FonkParticipantThis is a fantastic post. Thanks very much for making it.
Y'know the best part? I was genuinely trying to type something when I put "Mlam". :-[ / 😉
July 25, 2007 at 5:09 am #56433AlexGKeymasterAnd I'm glad that I got the forum's Posting King's approval.
JD: "Well, are you the postman?" 😉
AG: "Yes, I'm The Postman." 8)
JD: "Hey, I've heard of you – you're famous." ;D
“I like a good story well told. That is the reason I am sometimes forced to tell them myself.”
~ Mark Twain / Samuel Clemens (1907)July 25, 2007 at 9:55 pm #56434alexParticipantThanks for the thanks! ;D
I feel guilty sometimes, because I think I should post more comments. I lurk way too much, and it's easy to forget how important comments are to an author. It's just that
I feel awkward making small posts such as "Very nice! Continue please…", so in the end, I sometimes just let others comment.Anyway JimmyDimples, this is a good reminder that sometimes the smallest of comments on a story, is enough to raise an author's self-esteem, and help him continue to write and enrich our community. Thank you.
July 26, 2007 at 4:50 pm #56435FettParticipantJimmy, you and I are the same. I often scour stuff for compliments.
Great thread.
July 26, 2007 at 6:43 pm #56436David C. MatthewsParticipantDavid created and drew some magnificent characters. So wonderful, it drew out a lot of writing from me. If it weren't for him, my writing list would be a lot smaller. So I gotta give my props to DCM. And thanks. *bows*
Aw shucks, t'weren't nuthin'. *scuffles foot in dirt*
Seriously: I'm extremely flattered that my creations have inspired you to write. And I've enjoyed what you've written, and would love to see more.
July 27, 2007 at 6:06 am #5643710-4ParticipantW-Why do you guys get complements? I never get complements! NEVER! …Oh God… SOB! :'(
I kid of course. ;D I just have a very poor memory so I don't recall ones I get very clearly.
August 5, 2007 at 11:38 am #56438iceman75ParticipantDammit, Jeremy, you keep interrupting my attempts to write my own fiction with the incredible stuff you write. ;D I've been a fan for as long as you've been posting at Paul Smith's eXtreme Strength site, and I was thrilled to see that you had started posting your stories here.
You keep writing 'em, I'll keep reading 'em. Thanks!
I consider that to be the best compliment I've received at Amaz0ns.com, thanks very much St.Mercy2020.
