I've just read an article in a Hungarian news portal, but I won't translate it.
The point is: NBC cancelled the Bionic Woman
I was shocked. I loved it… Well, there was only 8 episode.
R.I.P.
March 27, 2008 at 10:32 pm #68970GrandmasterParticipantI wasn't able to catch every episode. If there were only eight, it shouldn't have been that difficult, but I just wasn't interested enough. I liked the villainess and her storyline better than the protagonist's (cuteness isn't enough). Maybe not the best thing for a cameo player to be more interesting than the lead actress.

Well, you'll probably see it in re-runs on Sci-Fi, along with Jericho, which CBS cancelled a second time. 8)

~ Mark Twain / Samuel Clemens (1907)March 28, 2008 at 12:13 am #68972SammiChungParticipantBionic Whiner is what I called it, I am not sad to see its demise..but Jericho… OMG that show totally had my interest and was so freaking sweet the last episode made me scream at the direction it was heading and then…cancellation… F-you you stupid coke sniffing, dope smoking, whoring TV execs who wouldn't know a good show if it came up and bitchslapped you. I just wished Sci-Fi would have shelled out some money to move it over there…but NBC and CBS…don't get along.

I'm surprised that they canceled Jericho again. The last time they did that, they got inundated with literally tons of nuts sent by faithful Jericho fans. Canceling Jericho again so soon after that, they're just asking for fans to send metric tons of buts to them again.
March 28, 2008 at 1:54 am #68974TC2ParticipantBionic Woman sucked anyway, good riddance to that show.
March 28, 2008 at 4:46 am #68975FettParticipantI saw the pilot and thought it was very boring. Didn't bother watching any more of it. Same for Knight Rider and Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles. All rubbish.
Maybe they should take the budgets and bring back Drive… or Firefly.
Poor Nathan Fillion.
March 28, 2008 at 11:06 am #68976SammiChungParticipantFett; XD oh man IF only they would bring Firefly back…hell there's hundreds of shows that they could bring back that is better then the crap on TV now…
I mean for goodness sakes…Battlestar Galactia was brought back from the dead three times..once in the utterly forgettable BG: 1980… once from near cancellation of the first new season…and then again from the third…only to bust the people's chops with…this is the LAST SEASON because the creator Larson says the storyline is will be complete.
Bionic Woman meh mishandled from the get go…if you're going to bring it back don't mess with the character's origin's build new storylines…give the woman some power…make her antagonist's not the hottest thing since sliced bread…don't give her 'feelings' that hold her back…afterall she's 43% machine now..
Terminator: Sarah Conner Cronhicles…seriously is this the best you CAN think of Hollywood? For a storied franchise that even the THIRD movie tried hard to tank on the believability factor they did TRY to make the storyline's fit…granted having a comely female terminator defending John is a step off the beaten path…buuuut…she's wasting her talents playing a 'action-driven' exo-skeleton instead of the scared, prone to weakness, and bouts of ass-kicking sister of the Firefly's Medic Serenity didn't do the series the justice it should have…
Driven: one word…UNBELIEVABLE…seriously…the story was iffy…the driving action adventure/drama…even more unbelievable…but to have so many 'stars' put in so little effort…it was doomed
what other things…hmmmm…I mean there's going to be shows..that suck hands down…from the get go…then there's the one's that sneak in and grab you and make you watch…then there's the one's…that go sucky and stay on seemingly FOREVER…(coughcoughFriendscoughcough) and then ones that dare to change and try and actually succeed…for me…Law & Order has not always been successful but they don't waste the time sitting around trying to blind you with the same dang storyline…trying to be 'different' ^_^;; actually that's a lie…
March 28, 2008 at 12:26 pm #68977HolidayParticipantI was worried that T:SCC would suffer from the drama. The hook for the first two films was the immediate suspense of escaping an advanced weapon. After the time-travelling and school, the suspense of Terminator was lost on me.
March 28, 2008 at 3:48 pm #68978Prophet TenebraeParticipantThe Bionic Woman isn't really a loss. It obviously wanted to be somewhere between Buffy and Alias – thankfully, minus improbable wigs.
The Sarah Connor Chronicles – as I mentioned on my rant blog – set the bar with its pilot episode, then repeatedly limboed under it. The school element was… UTTERLY pointless. It was just filler and given the lack of action, the show needed that.
It relied so heavily on tension that it seemed to forget action and characters. The Summernator just felt as if someone had seen her socially dysfunctional character and ass kicking in Serenity and thought "hey, that's neat – let's get her to play an almost identical character in Terminator: The High School Years!". In all honesty if felt that with that and the high school they were trying to go for Buffy type angle but not really backing it up with the humour or action…
And if John Connor is the hope for all mankind – we're fucked.
