Wow, 3D printing sure has come a long way in the last few years!

This website is offering custom, hand-painted, 8" statues from 3d models for $300. That's about the same price as some limited-edition statues go for and the quality is just as good.

I would love to use this service to get one of Tigersan's characters made into a statue, but he would have to agree to it of course.

This looks to be an amazing opportunity.

Pricing must be mind blowing but I guess the expense is balanced by the actual physical item.

If played right a model might be rendered in its composite parts as a prototype to be later resin cast for home kit replication.

Making a set of 'base' figurines that could be altered to suit through sculpted 'green-stuff' wouldn't be a bad way to start.

Thanks for the sweet update Reason.

A good example of 3D printers can be seen with this image that was originally created by Comic artist Mark Brooks. His 2D Drawing was modeled in ZBrush by a fan and got taken to a 3D printer service. Here is a link:

After which it was hand painted by another artist to create the final image. A lot of conceptual artists/sculpture have been using this to make some really nice mock up for their work.

Yeah, that's a fine example Neocene. I would say that more and more commercial statue and action figure masters would be produced in this fashion as well. I look forward to the day when DeviantArt has a "Buy 3D Print" option for 3D artwork. Or better yet, when we all have 2D/3D printers on our desktops and we can print anything we want.
