yeah, which also begs the question of why many girls are with assholes/jerks. it’s like what does she see in him?

A question that has vexed me for literally decades now: why are (some) women attracted to creeps and assholes? Even as far back as high school, I was frustrated with girls who wanted nothing to do with me (who would’ve treated them with kindness and respect) and would rather be with jerks who treated them like – well, like Derek treats Tetsuko.

What did Tet-chan see in Derek? This is something I haven’t had a chance to reveal in the comic (and probably won’t get to), that Derek can be quite a charmer when he wants to be. Tetsuko, unfortunately, also possesses an unfortunate tendency to be attracted to handsome guys (and I hope, if nothing else, I’ve rendered Derek as such) and tends not to want to leave them when they start mistreating her. Indeed, Derek is merely the latest in a line of boyfriends Tetsuko has had since her move from Japan to Florida, each one of which she’s taken up with because they looked “hot” and regretted soon after when they started mistreating her. (Thankfully, she’d never been the victim of physical abuse, but sadly, Derek is typical of the guys she’s been with… so far.)

I remember a while back David saying he had ideas for extra scenes at the beginning of the first comic, one of which was Tetsuko running into a guy who had done her homework for her, if I remember correctly. I could definitely see that as being the setup for a potential (nice) future boyfriend somewhere along the line.

Also, the new pages continue to be great! And now we’re so close to the really good stuff! Can’t wait. 😀

I think one of the major factors on why ladies prefer jerks and *bleep*s to nice guys is that nice guys tend to be perceived as “boring.” Non-exciting. While the “bad boy” gives her some excitement and stimulus and an edge.

The hitch is that bad boys tend to be… well, bad.

And I’d love to see some of that Japanese fellow that had been hinted in Tetsuko #1’s alternate opening script. David Matsutani as a new boyfriend would be welcome.

I’d love to see how he’d brave the wrath of Hamilton Slade. I think he’d surprise us all… including and especially Tetsuko.

I noticed that he almost immediately criticizes the fact that she’s taller now – but seems somehow is oblivious to the fact that she also one-heck of a lot larger in overall size, too. Her clothing, realistically, only goes so far in concealing her femuscular silhouette.

He can’t help but to have noticed that part, too – or he’s as dense as a fence-post, which I doubt.

Also, he strikes me as having an insecure personality, and wants to be the center of attention.

As for the part about his having a hissy-fit about her pre-transform interest in gaining some athletic femuscularity, that’s because not only is it a visual form of overt strength, and inner self-confidence, but (in his mind) also represents her independence.

I can only imagine the possible mental melt down on his part when she reveals her new physique.
