Hey guys, I'm want to make the new mesh really buff one for the amazon race v2.0 i want to make it. but i have no idea how to use nifskope to make it work. I'm ok to the point that i have obj files, i need a Tut that will explain how to rig a new mesh in nifskope so that its going to work in oblivion… Anyone knows of such a tut? I've tried looking for it but its like looking for a drop in the ocean. 🙁
Damn, Tigersan! I just checked out your final Amazon texture mod at tesnexus.com and it's nothing short of spectacular! How cool is normal mapping!
From the little I've read, I think that nifskope only let's you swap one mesh for another without changing the vertex order, which you've already done. Did you end up posting that mod anywhere, by the way? I think you're going to have to rig your character in a 3D program and export it to the right format for Nifskope to import. I think the tutorial you're after is one I already posted earlier in this thread.

February 18, 2009 at 8:37 am #63720TigersanParticipantNo, i havent posted it anywhere because i havent got it to work. The mesh i have is actually basic Oblivion mesh only modded to look buff so it has exactly the same vertex count. Only problem i have is when i replace the parts with OBJ imported objects they loose the texture, even tho its still assigned and i dont know how to fix this.
February 18, 2009 at 2:32 pm #63721ReasonParticipantOh, right. I thought that you had already got that flow working by putting the modified mesh through about 3 different programs. I guess doing that only fixed the mesh distortion and not the texture issue. I'm pretty sure that if you want to do a straight mesh substitution you have to preserve the vertex order and not just the number of vertices. Perhaps the skeletal animation can handle different vertex ordering, but the texture mapping cannot. It's probably the step when you convert the obj to 3ds, but it's hard to say for sure. Also, are you sure Zbrush isn't messing up the vertex order, or does it have a setting to preserve the mesh as it is? I would try the following: Import the obj straight out of nifskope and into 3ds max and then export it as an obj straight away without doing any edits. Then import it straight back into nifskope to see if you have a clean import and export path. If you don't then try the same thing with another program, but I think it should be OK, as it's a very widely used program for this sort of thing. Now since, you want to use Zbrush to do the mesh modding, perhaps you can export your edits as a displacement map and then bake them in, using 3ds max. That way you can be sure that you won't be messing up the vertex order or vertex count.
Anyway, lost of people have done what you're trying to do, so there must be a way. Hope you get there soon and thanks for all of your efforts.

February 19, 2009 at 12:05 am #63723elmanoucheParticipantHello everyone, I must say it took some time to register in this forum (even though I know it for some time now).
But there I saw Tigersan's problems about meshing in Oblivion.
I succeed in meshing, and already made a quite muscled woman, with the HGEC guts as a base, and using Blender.I know Blender is very unfriendly to use, and I'd prefer Zbrush or even Milkshake 3D, but Blender got all the plugins needed to import .nif, you don't need Nifskope (except to check if it works, but I prefer launch the game, it's the easiest and best way). Here is the TESNexus download page for Blender, it has everything needed in the zip to work with Oblivion.
And here is a Tutorial on how import/export .nif with Blender. I hope it will help you out.
And as a little bonus here is my Amazon. I used Cute Elf mod for the face and ears, i moded the HGEC guts for the body, and the body textures is a high résolution pack found on tesnexus.
Ok, that's not that great, I still need some practice, but I guess, Tigersan, you'll be able to do way better even with Blender.

February 19, 2009 at 10:34 am #63725elmanoucheParticipantHere the link to download that mesh : http://www.mediafire.com/?nw1nmjhmht2
I advise you to use textures compatible with HGEC bodies since I used the HGEC Guts to make that mesh. Of course extract in OblivionDatameshescharacters_male . And also, it only comes naked, so don't go fighting some Daedras like this ! ;D
I'm still working to improve myself in meshing, so I'll try to make some armor to go with it (most probably some HGEC guts armor but with more curves where we like them 😉 ).February 19, 2009 at 1:28 pm #63726elmanoucheParticipant@ the_collector : And I was thinking (yes sometimes it happens … And sorry for double post) maybe you'd prefer me to mod the Roberts female body ? Which is easier to texture if I understood well, isn't it ?
I'll try to mod it anyway, and as for the armor, if it's not too hard to mod I'll use the armors made for the roberts female body. (Weird name by the way, a female called robert … :P)February 19, 2009 at 11:48 pm #63727malhavoc431ParticipantHere the link to download that mesh : http://www.mediafire.com/?nw1nmjhmht2

I FUGGIN' LOVE YOU! *glomps* This has made my day! If you do make armor for this, I will offer you my firstborn child. O_o

Well my mesh is ready… And dont get me wrong i like what you did with this one only its not my style 😉 i need broader shoulders and lats 🙂 and thicker pecs 😉 hhehe… i want my mesh to work… i guess ill get my ass to learn blender then…
