Outage on April 18

    Sorry for the downtime this morning – a database table became corrupted and had to be repaired.  I seized the opportunity to do some other work on the site that I'd been meaning to get to, so it should run faster, now.

    I didn't see it anyway – I was at University chatting with a researcher about possibly starting a Masters this autumn, but the site does look to be running quicker.

    I noticed, and I was worried at first, but then I figured that it would be fixed in a matter of hours. Glad that it wasn't anything too serious.

    I think this was the first major site outage not caused by me.

    Had some troubles when I was trying to click on the links to individual forum areas or links… kept spitting me out to the main forum page.  I was able to semi-counter that by clicking on members' profiles, and getting a list of their latest posts…

    Roundabout and incomplete, but better than nuthin'.

    That's what was happening to me as well. I'm happy to know what the reason is, and that it's solved. (I hope.)
