Too bad I can only get PSP as a trial and that it's harde to use than GIMP or else I'd d/l it again and do that kind of morphing.

That was incredibly generous of you Pete. Thank you very much. It seems that you almost use a digital "wash" technique like you were painting with acrlics or something. Do you use a tablet or do you do this with mouse?

Have you tried GimpShop? It's supposed to give the Gimp a more photoshopy look&feel and is also free.

Can the methods Pete explained also be done of Gimpshop?  I thought PSP and Photoshop/GIMPshop were different.

Actually now that I've looked through the actual tutorial again, it looks harder than I thought…

Thank you for the tutorial, dear sir. For my part, I use Psp8. I had the 7.2 version, but it was given to me by a friend and one day it simply refused to work anymore… ???
I'm sure that this will be of great use for me!!

The good thing about Pete's technique is that it's incredibly simple and would apply to any paint app that let's you vary the opacity and hardness of the brush.

It also seems like he doesn't rely too much on the pressure sensitivity of a tablet so you could use a mouse with this technique as well.

Just an aside, the September issue of 2DArtist http://www.2dartistmag.com/ has a two great tutorials on painting realistic skin. Unfortunately, they both use guys, but the principals are the same.

What does Brush Hardness do again?  ???

Just a quicky to answer Rocks question ….I'll write more later…"Brush hardness" sets the sharpness of the edge of the area of paint you are applying. For instance 100 = Very sharp edge. 0 = very fuzzy edge (I use that kinda setting to blend colours into each other).

    more soon

    Hi All.
All my Porphs are created with a mouse. I had considered a stylus and tablet, but heard that they are difficult to get used to. Its an expensive mistake to make if I dont like the stylus thingy.(about £150 for an A5 tablet)

I'm guessing that programmes such as PSP and Photoshop and Gimp and others are all pretty much similar. They will all have the same kind of functions …some maybe a bit more advanced than others, so you can adapt your style to suit your programme. I cant create Morphs like "proper" Morphers do…well I proberly could, I just aint found the right buttons to click ;D …

To me, the original computer dummy , the owners instruction manual doesnt help at all. It assumes I know a little about what I'm s'posed to be doing to begin with….WRONG!!!….So I just experiment with the buttons that appear to do something and create a picture that pleases me.

However, it does help if you know someone or can find someone who knows more about your programme, so that you can ask them stoopid questions. Thats how I found out more slightly technical stuff for PSP…and to those guys I say a huge THANK-YOU  for answering my stoopid questions…

Simple is good. I LIKE simple. But it doesnt hurt to get adventurous sometimes and experiment with "Raster layers" and "unsharp masks" and all sorts of other stuff. But then it starts getting toooooo complicated.
Some proper Morphers say that they have used as many as 20 layers to create a picture…..Aaaaargh!!! plaited brain…the MOST I have ever used is 3

Thanks for your comments folks…I hope my little ramblings help a little.

    regards
    Pete
