New Private Messages plugin isn’t working right yet, so if you click on it you’ll get an error page.

Admins can use the backend PM system to talk with one another if needed.

OK, looks like it’s working. I haven’t configured it yet but you can try it out if you want; it’s on the top nav bar and also under your avatar/profile pull-down menu.

OK, I was able to import most of the old PMs into the new PM application. I didn’t think that was actually going to work so I didn’t mention it, but it worked so now I’m mentioning it.
