“Depending on the success of this re-launch, we'll shoot an entire episode around this 'leap', featuring your character as the lead role in a possible future production. If we shoot the next episode, the show will tackle the issues of a woman's acceptance as a legitimate bodybuilder. While we (the Producers) are no experts in the professional bodybuilding arena, we are seeking a uniquely beautiful woman who is big and muscular.”
This was as if Heaven had finally opened up, and blessed every woman with muscle… well okay, maybe I’m being a little dramatic there, but I was THRILLED to see a production company (big or small) be brave enough to tackle an issue like that. Granted, its not a ‘front burner’ issue, but in terms of women’s rights, I champion that, and would LOVE to see ANY show take on society’s hang ups with muscle on a woman. I haven’t heard back from them about the story (yes, I begged them to let me read the script), but I am really hoping they go for it.
*Sighs* Ahh, a girl can dream…

If people are not engaged by, or even repelled by this storyline and the way Melissa is portrayed, then they won't be likely to take it further. Of course, I'd love to see it succeed, but I doubt we'll see a Hawkins-style physique being positively-portrayed for the foreseeable future. There, let's hope I put a jinx on the prevailing view and the public take FBBers to their collective heart! 8) ;D
November 22, 2008 at 4:52 pm #77482AlexGKeymasterGina would a nice choice, but for me, I'd prefer Shawna Walker – tall, as well as buffed. 😉

Speaking of Ms Walker – Alex, wht o you think about her appearance in her most recent shoots?
November 23, 2008 at 4:37 pm #77484AlexGKeymasterGiven her near-six-foot height, she seems to have a well-balanced physique and (in her pics) radiates a confident aura of: This is what I am, accept it if you will, and fine if you don’t.

My view also. Thanks for your comment.

I think she's gotten kind of skinny these days…relatively speaking.
November 29, 2008 at 12:23 pm #77487fbbfanParticipantI would have dug seeing someone like Betty Pariso, Lisa Aukland, Gina Davis or maybe even Kristy Hawkins in the role.
But some female muscle exposure is better than none, even though she seems more like Fitness.
I mentioned Gina Davis early on, and would like to remind folks how hot a female bodybuilder can be. They can be sexy as hell, and Gina is damn hot.
I would pay good money to see female muscle like that in a positive light and on television, and for that matter, I would love to see it up in the big screen.
November 29, 2008 at 1:43 pm #77488TC2ParticipantMost of us would pay good money to do that, problem is our form of good money, is not rich. We're broke and are a small few and is therefore not enough to drive a production company to do FBB's justice. Unless the mainstream market is tapped and that's obviously a catch 22. In order to get mainstream into it they need to see FBB's in a positive light, but in order to show FBB's in a positive light mainstream needs to show an interest in the project.

Which means the only way around tht conundrum is what we're discussing here. Therein lies the problem. From the point of view of many of us, Melissa isn't big enough (although I'm happy) and the project isn't big enough. Trouble is, for every 1 person who'll see this and be captivated by Melly-Mel and femuscle as a concept, there'll be 2 or 3 who will experience the "Ewww" reaction.
