Our school exam is up and running at the moment.
We need a little info from the art community, nothing too complicated. Just enough to give our group a little data.
Question for artists
First question: What do you experience when someone comes to you for art-related questions about your art works? How is the working relationship between you and the client?
Second question: How do people calculate the pricing of their art? Does it depend on time, type and amount of paints used for the hand-made art, details on what has to be included during the creating process of the art piece, on what kind of art it is and such?
Third question: How often do you get orders from DA or through emails? How often per month/year do you get orders from clients? Is there any period you’ve experienced that is your busiest time for art.
Fourth question: Which is your preferred payment method? PayPal, Western Union or through banks?
Question for buyers/viewers
First question: How often do you visit DA to check on your favorite artist?
Second question: Are you willing to buy art from your favorite artist and more than one?
Third question: Have you experienced that the prices that artists have are reasonable?
Fourth question: Which payment method are you mostly comfortable with? PayPal, Western Union or through banks?

1. I usually check DA daily, and have Alot of artists on my WatchList. I like to see who is doing what, leaving little comments of approval where I can, and also it helps me to find new talented artists that I may approach for them to work with my on Amy’s Conquest.
2. Yes, pretty obviously, I do purchase artwork for AC, and yes always more than just one (as they need to fill up a story, so could be anywhere from 10 – 35 or so).
3. Overall yes, but not always. By and large I am pleased with the artists fees in comparison to the work I get from them. Sure there are times when Im not thrilled with the finished products when comparing them to how much I spent on it, but thats a pretty rare instance really, and much more than not Im quite pleased to Thrilled with the results.
4. I almost always use Paypal, just because I think its something pretty much everyone has, and overall, no one seems to mind in the least. 🙂

A: I visit DeviantART daily, but only check out artist pages when I get notification thru the Message CenterQ: Are you willing to buy art from your favorite artist and more than one?
A: Yup!Q: Have you experienced that the prices that artists have are reasonable?
A: For the most part. As with any other market, there are some that are over-priced and some that are under-valued. Pros typically charge a lot more.Q: Which payment method are you mostly comfortable with?
A: I pay exclusively thru Paypal.April 28, 2010 at 4:46 pm #91992FettParticipantFirst question: What do you experience when someone comes to you for art-related questions about your art works? How is the working relationship between you and the client?
Like a fucking hack. I don’t know what I’m doing! I get scared and then just quote something I read elsewhere and make it clear I don’t know what I’m doing.
Second question: How do people calculate the pricing of their art? Does it depend on time, type and amount of paints used for the hand-made art, details on what has to be included during the creating process of the art piece, on what kind of art it is and such?
I just think about the amount of time it takes and what other people charge. I charge about the same as others, but due to the weak nature of the pound, I have effectively priced myself out of the market.
Third question: How often do you get orders from DA or through emails? How often per month/year do you get orders from clients? Is there any period you’ve experienced that is your busiest time for art.
Maybe two a year. If that. I don’t get orders at all.
Fourth question: Which is your preferred payment method? PayPal, Western Union or through banks?
Paypal’s just easier. -
