I believe Lingster has posted warnings about not using his site to trade clips from paysites before.

The one who strikes me as creepy is that Gene X charcter. Definetly something a little off about that cat.

Being that its a three studio production, shot probably over the course of a weekend.
As Cook has written on UM, they had to shoot all the scenes over 6 hours.

February 24, 2011 at 12:13 am #99205MimiParticipantI watched these videos too, and I agree with a lot of what’s being said.
But… it is what it is, boys. I know our expectations are high, and we want the best possible product, but I don’t go into it expecting Spielberg production values, or Shakespeare-esque performances. You have to remember that the odds of these ladies having any formal acting training are minimal at best. Also, the odds are that they save the most intimate and exotic acts for when the camera isn’t around.
Considering the heavy cross promoting blizzard we saw, yes, the bar was set rather high.
But then again, what do I know? 😉

Yes you’re right. Sometimes expectations can be set too high and yes none of them have much acting experience, if any.
What does go into productions like these though is passion and heart. None of the people involved would have been in it if they didn’t have a passion for their lifestyle or heart into trying to bring more acceptance to women bodybuilders. Everyone has to start somewhere and in the beginning things can be rough, lots of learning experiences.
Perhaps I was a bit too harsh in my “critique”.
My biggest problem with women’s bodybuilding and perhaps the fitness side of it also. Is that most if not all of the videos out there are done very ad hoc/impromptu, like they’re all last minute/spur of the moment ideas. If women’s bodybuilding is to survive, endeavors like “Rage” need to have more professional look and feel, more fore thought and planning done. I realize that many times a lot of this can’t be done and acting isn’t natural for everyone and coaching/directing the actors can be hard for those that are inexperienced. However when comparing to videos like the bikini destinations series (I know there really isn’t anything to compare to, and bikini destinations is a different genre, however the subject is similar, the display of a woman’s figure and physique), bikini destinations blows everyone out of the water. While some of the models are professional and have spent years in front of the camera, there are also many models that appear on the series that are very inexperienced, but they are given great instruction and often do very well. I’m not saying that they have to be perfect, no one is.
What I am saying is that for those of us who enjoy the entertainment provided by, who enjoy and appreciate the female physique, it’s high time that the producers of said content take it up another notch. Do some more planning, getting better video cameras, better audio equipment (and a boom mic guy that LOOKS where the mic is going, not what the actors are doing), and pay more attention to details like lighting (using reflectors/filters) and most importantly the setting/location and background. (please no more videos in parking garages, hotel pools with guests staring in shock, etc). Much of this goes for the men’s videos out there also, I’ve noticed that it’s not isolated to just the women’s ones.
A lot of what I’m saying stems from all the negativity that bodybuilding as a whole gets. Bodybuilding needs to be like any other sport in order to survive and not become a “deviant sub-culture”, much as it was once perceived to be. Joe Weider has been a pretty powerful force in making sure that bodybuilding, the women’s side in particular….be a pretty stagnant sport. But I digress, I think we all know how unfair bodybuilding has been to both en and women in the sport.
Mimi, I have been mostly a lurker here. I have to say that you are one of the shining examples in this world. Being a proponent and supporter of women involved in bodybuilding and fitness. You have a great wit about you, which is matched my your determination, perseverance and intelligence. I appreciate your feedback. I wish you the best of luck with your new endeavor, I look forward to seeing your work 🙂
February 27, 2011 at 12:38 pm #99238TC2ParticipantHi dude,
The way I see it, guys who are into Female Bodybuilder are notorious cheapskates and only a small handful of people actually purchase goods. I’m sure this mainly stems from the fact, that no one who is into female muscle, FMG, or any of our niché genres, wants their name associated with purchasing female muscle goods.
Therefore, due to the “cheapness” of the community which has been showcased and displayed many times, it is absurd and ridiculous for fans to request a higher production value when they’re not willing to donate the money to make it happen.
Also, those who may be talented in doing the direction and can possibly make an amazing movie, are not willing to step up and attach their name to any projects for fear of being “exposed” which as I’ve gotten older, I’ve realized is very silly. It’d be one thing if the niché involved extremely off the wall ‘preferences’ that had to do with animals and children, but all it is, is female muscle. Yet, no one wants to readily admit it and therefore no one is really going to step up and make an amazing production.
If there was actual MONEY to be made, it’d be a different story. So unless the community is willing to set up a fund to make a legit, high quality female muscle video. You get what you get.
March 2, 2011 at 10:18 pm #99336SweMuParticipantId gladely donate some money for a good product to be made. But it would require plenty of people to do the same. Probably as many as would actually buy the product in the end.
March 2, 2011 at 11:01 pm #99337DavidParticipantThe thing is massivebodybuilder the things you want the sites to do cost money. A lot of money.
Most of these are shot at shows where the women are in contest shape, what it seems most people want to see. That superheroic freakyness. Shows are great to shoot at because everyone’s there. The bad part of that is everyone’s there so there is overlap and unless you can get away or shoot in a room you are stuck with spectators. When you are shooting there everyone is on a very tight schedule so you have to try and take your time and get the woman to relax while you hurry and get the shot so locations are often adjacent to the hotel or venue. If you are really lucky and have the time you can go somewhere more isolated and pick and choose backgrounds and lighting but that often depends on schedules. A lot of women come the day before the show and leave a few days after. They have to schedule quite a few shoots if they are going to pay extra for the room.
If you want the woman all to yourself that costs more. You have to travel to her or have her travel to you. Meaning instead of expensing that travel over a half dozen women if lucky it’s just one. There have been times where the models have not been in as good a shape as possible and the shoot is a wash meaning you’re out all that money.
Now if you go into the long format themed videos there are much more in the way of expenses. Think an exponential increase. You need a lot more time to shoot. Rent equipment. Transportation costs. It snowballs quickly.
And finally as the collector pointed out the people who are the fans are cheap. For every person willing to layout money there are a hundred out there asking if you could send them a copy.March 3, 2011 at 12:51 am #99342MimiParticipantWell said, Masschine. Ditto.
I see both sides of it now that we’re into the video production side of it too. But thankfully my partner already had a grasp on the production side of things before we launched. That being said, I do think there is always room for improvement, but it is rather constrictive when the clock is your own worst enemy.
But, back to the topic at hand… 😉
I think its brilliant that Awefilms was able to get Annie and Aleesha together for a shoot.
XOXO’s
