ParticipantI think that was about the only thing that made sense. That is, being a lawful person, she (and Slott) atleast tried to make the registration not look like abunch of stormtroopers forcing their view on a populace that probably wouldn't mind it… if they were'nt busy practicing their goosestepping. Shulkie's probably the only person who managed to keep her character through the ordeal.
She Hulk's approach: If you register, and you will get real training to become a better hero, and with all of us together, we can be a real force for good!
IronMan and near everybody else's approach: Register or I'll throw your ass into the can.
Yeah I agree. I think that registration could have been handle a lot easier than it was in the marvel universe. It could have been "Wah HOO I get government funding , which means a good paycheck and awesome benefits. as apposed to OMFG how am I going to pay my bills and put food on the table while I run around in tights and save the world."
But nooooooooooooooo it was join us in our super human SS or go to jail. The way it was presented was all wrong.
I understand that marvel wanted there to be conflict and it could have been very cool but the ending sucked hard core. I was such an anti climactic ending for a rather dramatic storyline. It also put a little bit of a strain an one of my friend ships. I am friends with the only guy in the continant that I live on that wanted to debate and say that Iron man was right in his oppressive actions. I can understand mandatory schooling but forcing people to join a US sectioned hit squad just because the have the ability to is not what America is about.
There's my thoughts.

ParticipantI think the majority opinion is that Tony Stark must die or at least have a ton of sense knocked into him. He's really lost sight of what it means to be a hero.
That being said, I think they got Shulkie right so far in WWH. She shouts out "No!" when the missiles are streaking towards her cousin. That's a pretty far cry from Mark "I've got me hand up Shulkie's arse so she can say whatever I want her to" Millar. I'm looking forward to seeing how Greg Pak writes her for the rest of the series.

Yes, have him trade places in death with Capt America in order to bring him back so Steve can save the day at the end of WWH. I can wait a few years until they bring back Iron Boots – I did for Thor . . . ๐
โI like a good story well told. That is the reason I am sometimes forced to tell them myself.โ

Regarding the idea that Marvel would even consider killing Tony Stark at this juncture, I have four words: Iron Man movie 2008

Here's what I'm wondering:
Marvel, as I'm sure some of us have noticed, has a tendency to change the comics to reflect the movies โ mainly the X-Men's costumes (that didn't last long, thankfully) and Spidey's organic webshooters. So, how are they going to de-dickify Tony by the time the Iron Man movie comes out? I'm certain it wouldn't be a sales boost to have moviegoers pick up a comic with Iron Man in it and say, "Hey, this guy's the biggest douchebag on the planet! I ain't readin' about him!"

ParticipantWell, in all fairness, all it took for Hal Jordan to have a turnaround from evil galactic scumbag to superhero was a six issue mini-series.
I just feel really bad for all the Iron Man fans out there; can you imagine having your favorite character turn into a bad guy? It can't be good for sales!
Here's my thinking; Marvel wasn't intending for people to have such a negative reaction to Iron Man. They wanted to create a morally ambiguous character who, while he believed in doing good things, nevertheless had a questionable way of going about achieving them.
Unfortunately, in comics, especially Superhero comics, that Alan Moore slant to superheroes can only go so far before people start hating characters.
Can we all say that we really liked what happened to a majority of the characters at the end of Watchmen? (Don't spoil it for those who haven't read it ๐ ).
So, in trying to create a hero for the 21st century who would do whatever it takes to save the world, Marvel instead created one of the biggest evil scumbags in comic book history. Here's to hoping Hulk's thumping of him knocked some sense into his tin plated head.
(Go She-Hulk!)

And a rather ridiculous retcon that still isn't sitting well with a fair number of readers.

ParticipantI read it and like it… although the One Year Later storyline shouldn't have drug on for an entire year. It could have been told in less issues. Not only that, but the storyline of the first few new issues of Green Lantern had to deal too much with the new Infinite Crisis instead of trying to find its own legs. The best storyline of them all so far has been the one where he went to the Manhunter Planet and confronted the cyborg superman and rescued all the lost Green Lanterns.
(and Green Lantern Corps is doing a decent job of portraying the space cops but no one's been giving it much credit sadly :'(.)
Still, go She-Hulk =), the other Emerald Knight-ess.

ParticipantWell, I got the 3rd and 4th She-Hulk trade paperbacks in the mail today, and I'm almost done with the 3rd one already. ๐
I really liked the initial time-travel case, and I'd already read issue #100 (as mentioned in the first post), but we'll see how the rest of the TPB goes. -
