I would have to agree. I'm not surprised that a twiggy is getting the role, but when you consider how acrobatic the female Joe characters were, it would be tough to cast them and do them justice. What do you want to bet there'll be cgi stunts out the wazoo?
January 30, 2008 at 6:14 pm #66528TC2ParticipantYeah she is a bit on the skinny side, man I just had some flashbacks to the Street Fighter movie. Though I believe Dennis Quad will be playing General Hawk. This is all interesting but I'm getting mixed feelings from this movie.
January 30, 2008 at 6:29 pm #66529randy guillotteParticipantI believe the problem with these type movies is that there just aren't enough buff actresses out there who can fill the powerful female roles. Thus the studios are left to cast whomever they feel can fit the role, acting-wise, and the physical aspect has to take a back seat.
January 30, 2008 at 7:47 pm #66530HolidayParticipantO.K. So nobody wants to try photmanipulating her? :'(
We should have a new thread about the lack of buff actresses on T.V. Reality shows like American Gladiators, Fear Factor, and Biggest Loser have very athletic women. But scripted films still can't deliver them consistently.

True. But then again, how hard is it to put said actresses in a gym and have 'em gain some mass?
I'm not saying they should end up looking like amateur bodybuilders or fitness models, but they could at least look athletic. Male actors do it all the time, bulking up or triming down for different roles. Why can't the ladies do it too? The last actress I really saw doing this was Jessica Biel for her character Abigail Whistler in Blade Trinity. And that was 4 years ago!

It may have to do with filming time constraints. Even a bit of buff is going to take a while, also, a lot of actresses just aren't into our vision of the ideal woman that we'd like to see in these roles.
January 31, 2008 at 9:58 am #66533demented20ParticipantBuff or skinny aside, I had no idea they were making a live action GI Joe. Tells you how out of the loop I've been.
April 17, 2008 at 5:46 am #66534HolidayParticipantWe don't need to worry about Rachel's physique for this role. It looks like they've opted for nomex or hard rubber suits. You know, the kind that has padded areas to emphasize fake muscles? :'(
And what's with the black colors? Will the entire G.I. Joe team look like storm troopers? They already did that in Blade 2! :-[ Better call Heather Graham and tell her Rachel's wearing her "Lost in Space" costume.
May 14, 2008 at 5:54 pm #66535HolidayParticipantIf you visit http://www.hollywoodtuna.com you can see how far Rachel Nichols has tried to go in her Scarlett training. It's not much. Jessica Biel she ain't. But then, I guess you guys have all seen those awful costume teasers by now. :'(
May 15, 2008 at 4:10 pm #66536ScottGParticipantJust in case you haven't seen them, here they are.
Rachel Nichols as Scarlett

I didn't expect that much so I'm fine with how she looks.Sienna Miller as Baroness

I don't know about you, but she looks DAMN SEXY in that outfit with that look on her face. Might be the glasses as well.
(I see an opportunity for a new 3d model.) -
