    Just came across this story

What do you get when you combine the retro-geek awesomeness of the original Battlestar Galactica with new effects on par with Ronald D. Moore’s recent reboot of the series? This, and it’s glorious.

Longtime VFX guru Adam “Mojo” Lebowitz is behind a new push to release a restored collection of the original 1978 Battlestar Galactica series with brand-new effects. To help demo the concept, he’s developer a stellar pitch reel to show how the new effects would mesh with the restored footage.

The proposal is being compared to the recent restoration of Star Trek: The Original Series with new effects and restored footage to make the old reels as clean and clear as possible. As Ain’t It Cool News notes, the big plus here is that some fresh FX work could finally replace the largely recycled stock footage that permeated the original series.

Frankly, I can’t see the improvement. It still has that fuzzy, 70s TV look to it. Its no better than the Buck Rogers DVD set I have.

Since the topic of classic Battlestar came up, thought I’d pass this along. 🙁

They haven’t cleaned the footage yet, that was just the new visual effects demo to try and get the project moving.

He was set to produce a new Battlestar Galactica “re-imagining” movie being made, closer to the original series then the Ron Moore series being written by Jack Paglen who wrote the Johnny Depp movie “Transcendence”. I hope Universal continues with the project.

Larson created so many great TV shows, the industry could use more like him right now.

    I remember watching on channel WOR 9 a 5.00/6:00 ?? in the 80’s
I remember that scene. they finally show and explain where the vipers come out, they cut out Apollo’s statement that one of the tankers is empty, they using it as a transport for the cyclone raiders.
really nice job , like star trek show the even the viper being launched threw the flight tube!!
