My first impression was that its age w/ gear usage and (post) contest prep.

Now the more that I’ve had a chance to compare,
I’m starting to wonder if a touch of the Melissa Coates factor (plastic surgery) isn’t also involved. :unsure:

No one can escape ravage of time, some age better than others. (Tomoko Kanda is pushing 50) I think she looks much better than Coates. I use to really like Coates too back in the day

It’s the platinum blonde hair with the unnatural curls that bring up memories of a young Melissa Coates
Also it appears to be only age is a factor
Not every girl ages well
