WOW! That's amazing art! She looks so much better buff (and that dynamic transformation would be soooo sexy when animated!). *sigh* We can but dream, no?
Thanks, number 6, a full set of Portmeirion crockery on its way to you as we speak! Who is number 1? You are, number 6!
(P.S. you can't be serious?! Is there really now a character in Masters of the Universe called 'Fisto'?! Didn't anyone see the possible problems with chosing a name like that for a kids tv character?!)

It looks like Enza Fontana was the official penciller of the recent incarnation of the Masters of the Universe comic, which looks like it follows the same storyline as the recent incarnation of the show. I don't know who the artist for the TV series was, but this guy does a great job capturing (and improving upon) its look. I don't know if he has a website or is making any new MotU-related stuff, though.
Y'know, I should *really* get back to my latest plan to escape The Village now… 😉

Still, that saga would be an excellent choice to remake, because it had enough fans who would watch for nostalgia's sake, yet there were enough possibilities that a talented team could really improve on the original concept.
The problems with the original were that Filmation was terrible at animation, even though I liked the character renderings. Also, because it operated in the 1970's and 80's, what I consider a dark period for animated features, the stories ranged anywhere from amateurishly predictable to syrupy. Again, this lack of unrealized potential makes it a perfect franchise for further development.
On that note, does anyone know why She-Ra isn't more popular in fanfic circles? Just wondering.
May 25, 2007 at 7:14 am #52611HolidayParticipantSince Joel Silver is planning a He-Man film. Why can't we have a She-Ra film? And I'm not talking about Barbarian Queen!
What say you all?
May 25, 2007 at 9:00 am #5261200treeParticipantmight be nice. that would be a hard project to pull off and make people happy with but I'd be for it.
May 25, 2007 at 3:51 pm #52613Prophet TenebraeParticipantThere were rumours of a She-Ra cartoon back when He-Man enjoyed its latest return to the small screen… but when He-Man got cancelled pretty quickly, naturally, interest in that faltered.
As to the film – I guess it's POSSIBLE, if the He-Man one does well but my reasoning is thus… Spider Man has been one of the most massively successful film franchise ever… and I'm fairly sure no one has said "HEY! Time for a Spiderwoman/Spidergirl film!"

As long as they didn't film that stupid Venom script I can understand that!
May 26, 2007 at 6:36 am #52615AshleeParticipantWell Even though I enjoy the show, It does not have a large following.
And unless you appeal to males (the major movie goer) it will Flop.
This means aiming it for males Might mean Turning off Us Gals, And Vicea-Vera.May 27, 2007 at 8:02 am #52616HolidayParticipantWell Even though I enjoy the show, It does not have a large following.

Well, if the writer and director have a clear vision of what they want, maybe it can work.
May 28, 2007 at 4:23 am #52617mercblue22ParticipantAha!
I'm am soooooooooooo glad this came up here as I have been a She-Ra fan for years! 🙂 I have both boxed sets now and enjoyed the strong and heroicness that She-Ra shows in each ep.But, I too wish they would create a new She-Ra series with the princess of power looking a little more buffed then the original. This seems to be a debate at the He-Man message board as both guys and girl fans of the show do NOT want them turning their beloved SRA into some mindless children's sing-a-long character. I totally agree, She-Ra was such a powerful figure that girls adored her ability to stand side-by-side with her brother and guys, drooled over her. 😛
Anyhow, one of the creators of the last He-Man series drew up some sketches of what She-Ra would have looked like if she appeared in a new tv series. And let me be the first to say, mannnn, we DEF need a new She-Ra series if she's going to look like this!!! 😀
Enjoy!
