[font=Times New Roman]βA Love Refinedβ, I have my character smoking a cigarette when pushed into a corner. While its not a central theme or motif, I used it because I wanted to illustrate how beleaguered she was having been faced by the prospect of being attracted to a FBB. I guess some could say it is a sign of weakness and uncertainty. I leave that up to the reader to determine.

September 27, 2007 at 10:50 pm #60859Silent OneParticipantTo use the words of your earlier posting: Is this directed at me? ::)
Being a maverick I certainly don't subscribe to the status quo within the community of female-only TFing – but then, you already knew that. π
Maybe it was directed at me at that ::) I do seem to be the only one who's included a major character (non villain) who smokes more than occasionally. Yes, being a maverick is good. And I know I'm in good company π
September 28, 2007 at 1:54 am #60860LuParticipantWhile I don't write stories per se, I write comics and role plays..
I myself don't smoke.
But yeah.
For one, my Lu smokes.I suppose to me it expresses that not every character is 'good' or 'bad', and they need have flaws and sometimes bad habits just like real people, to seem more plausible.
I don't think smoking is a big deal, it just adds realism, in my opinion- if your whole universe isn't made of cookie cutter good girls and bad guys.September 28, 2007 at 2:00 am #60861Silent OneParticipantWhile I don't write stories per se, I write comics and role plays..

December 20, 2007 at 12:20 am #60863Dark PhoenixParticipantYou know, before I get into my reply to the question itself. I just wanted to say to those of you compelled to simply say how smoking is a bad habit. I think it's safe to say that everybody knows that! Some people don't care. Some do it because they enjoy it. But saying how repulsive it is just because you're compelled to say it is a conditioned answer. It just bothers me when someone tries to ask a question about if you have ever had a character in a story who smoked or if some other similar smoking related question. Getting that typical, "Smoking is bad for you!" answer is borderlining spam IMO! That's not what was asked.
That said, I happened to include one of my main characters as a smoker (with a holder I might add). It's NOT the muscle woman, but another woman. It just happened to be my first story too. I used to think that smoking was simply no good. And for all intents and purposes, it mostly isn't. But like drinking or eating red meat in occasional moderation, smoking can be an enjoyable sensation. I'm considered a nonsmoker, but every once in a while, I'll buy a pack and over the course of like a month or so, smoke through that pack at a time when I'm relaxed. This tends to really enchance that relaxation. And it's even very pleasurable for me.
So my point is that smoking is a legal choice any adult can make. With all the people telling others not to smoke, it's really not up to them. It's your own choice and if by the time you are of legal age, you STILL don't know what smoking has the potential of doing to you, then you've been living under a rock. I'm certainly not encouraging anyone to start. I'm simply stating my opinion.
And by the way, a woman smoking (especially with a holder) CAN be sexy! Again IMO! So there! π

Dark Phoenix, maybe you should check out my recent story "Paradigm Shift" in the growth stories forum – the arch-villianess leader smokes and uses a cigarette holder, no less. π
βI like a good story well told. That is the reason I am sometimes forced to tell them myself.β

December 27, 2007 at 9:35 am #60866The SaintParticipantI don't write here on the forum, but I do write femuscle/femdom stories for LH Art, custom text stories under the name Legion.
And yes, I have and will include both peripheral and main characters who are smokers, if their professions and/or backgrounds make it likely. It may be distasteful, but it's reality, and characters who lack flaws are generally uninteresting and two-dimensional.
