In FemForce #152 there’s A Stormy Tempest story called “Living in the Past”. I noticed how in the writing Stormy’s physique is referred to again and again like “Two weeks and all she does is exercise…”, “And eat like a horse. Where does she put it all?”, “build muscle mass”, and “Muscle…it’s denser than fat…and she’s got muscles!”. Now, the art by Larson & Austin wasn’t bad but, from all the above descriptions you would think she’d be drawn her more muscular? Obviously not in a comic published by Bill Black.
I contact the writer, Len Strazewski, via Facebook and asked him if he would’ve preferred her drawn more muscular. He said “Her body mass is much denser than normal, being genetically enhanced from the future.” I asked if Bill Black had vetoed her being drawn more muscular. He said “Not to my knowledge.”
What do you guys who buy FF think-should she have been drawn more muscular to match what was written, dense body mass notwithstanding?

MatthewsParticipantYes, if the writer refers over and over again to muscles etc. This isn’t Supergirl, where a slender/skinny girl can possess super-strength without bulky muscles, explained away by the effect of yellow solar radiation on Kryptonian physiology, or whatever.
Now, the writer may not have been aware of pressure from Black on the artist to not draw her muscular, but that doesn’t mean it didn’t happen…

My understanding is that nowadays Bill Black has very, very little involvement in day-to-day supervision of making each issue of FemForce. He’s spending his time making those movies and remastered DVDs for sale in AC’s webstore and on CultRetro.com
So, Mark Heike, the editor, would be the one to give any blame or credit for most stuff in FemForce in this era. I don’t think Mark has any anti-muscle prejudice per se. But I do think he would choose artists and guide character design to conform with the “house look” of AC, which is does a a lot of inertia towards a more slender look.
Yes, I would have liked seeing Stormy look more buff, given how she was described.
(side note: So, since you guys read the issue… any opinions on the storyline of the 1-900-Giantess story in the same issue? Sorry, couldn’t resist asking. 🙂 )

Not a Giantess fan so I skip those stories, sorry.
