Just an idea I am submitting so maybe someone who actually know how to write might develop.  Its inspired partly by the "grandma muscle" stories, and the "riveting" avatar that some members have here.

The plot: The story would take place somewhere in the U.S. right after it entered the war in 1941.  The heroine would be joining the war effort by going to work in a shipyard/arms factory along many women in order to replace men going to fight.  The work would be hard physically, especially at first since few of them would be accostumed to it.  They would probably have to face anger and discrimination by overseers/other male workers who see them as more of an hindrance and not as productive since physically weaker.  But over time, their bodies would start gaining more and more muscles, their strength would increase and their productivity would skyrocket.  Of course none of the women characters would be used to having any kind of noticeable muscularity. A lot would be embarassed or scared of it, but some would grow to like it, seeing all the benefits it brings to their life.  Also it would be seen as a necessity, the "patriotic thing" to do in order to help the war effort by becoming as strong as possible to more physical work and increase productivity.  In the end it could event become a rivalry between the women to build more muscles (with the means of the time of course) and it could even become a trend nationwide (hence the modified rosie poster).  I even imagined a scene where the women workers of the factory would finally be inspired to be proud of their growing strength and muscle at a meeting where a female worker from the Soviet Union would speak to them and show off a little russian muscle of her own as an example to emulate, citing that russian women have long ago embraced physical power as a desirable quality to strive for.  Of course theri would also be plots with returning husbands or overbearing  4fs and overeseers and how the tables are turned on them.  Heck! Even feminine muscle becoming truly fashionable by the 50's!! (image of muscle vixen mariyn Monroe flashing)

Whew.  Well that's just an idea to throw into the pot.  Could make for a cool story.

Nice idea but a lot of work.

I can see an alternative history developing.  Of course in the real world, the gals lost all their rights and their muscle when the guys came home.  But maybe it didn't have to be that way.  Maybe the men were too shattered by the war at the front to resume their prior role, and the gals just kept getting stronger ….

Great idea. I have a superheroine concept that progresses from the 60's. I hope somebody can help you with yours.

Yeah, I like this idea too, maybe it starts a whole trend, women in their 50's and 60's start working out hard, and girls in their teens and preteens too, and we come to the present time, all the women of the US are muscled to some degree, even women in their 80's and 90's while the male population is smaller per capita.
