IDK if any of you have been watching the show, but I am enjoying it. And I like the fact that they ‘enhance’ the suit to give her some musculature. She looks fit, but the shoulder pads make her look more impressive in the suit. Given the popularity of the show, I hope this will open the door for us to see Powergirl in the future.

Don’t know about PG (one can hope, tho),
but over on Flash they’re already lining up Ciara Renée / Kendra Saunders as Hawkgirl. B)

Watched the show and it was disappointing script with actors pulling all the stops to make their lines come off as believable
Like all other CW-style tv shows except for this one is on CBS

I liked it overall but Benoist is really scrawny. Also the fight scene isn’t too impressive.

all the fight scenes were pretty meh
Typical of DC’s tv shows thus far
Just like watching Supergirl fly was like seeing Firestorm&The Atom do same on CW’s Flash/Arrow

I am not feeling all the little changes, but I think overall it is a good show and I like Melissa Benoist portrayal of kara/supergirl. But, I am also aware that there will never be a show/movie of any character that will please everyone. Somebody will always have an issue with something, and thats ok. Ideally I would like here bigger, but I think she looks good. As for the script and the action, I am going to wait and see how it plays out and hope for some cool cameos.

Everything is fine by me literally except for Jimmy Olsen portrayal
why is Kara’s nerdy friend more jimmy Olsen than guy playing James Olsen
Also why does Jimmy Olsen have complete knowledge of Kal-EL is Clark who is Man Of Steel
they really don’t need 1 of the guys vying for her affections&the ADULT love interest of a girl plays creepy so far
YES,..i know she is legal in this universe but he just comes off as guy who is thinking WOW I may finally get to sleep with Superman because their is a female version of him now

Which was also summed up very well in the 1969 classic Larry Niven essay, “Man Of Steel, Woman Of Kleenex”:

I think this Jimmy Olsen portrayal serves three purposes:

    1. He bridges with the established Superman universe.
    2. I think his pov in this story is meant to be the way we are supposed to see it. He not only knows Superman, but that he is an alien with a nondescript alter-ego living like a regular shnook. So he’s like an audience surrogate in hinting how Kara can navigate a similar setup.
    3. He’s familiar enough even to casual fans, but not so consequential that you have to make a big ta-doo about casting him.

If the series sticks, you can always get rid of him, which I wonder if it’s part of the plan. Positing him as a possible love interest may not be the route you or I would go, but I guess the point of this decision is to present a character that the audience at least knows, and can root for or against him as a potential partner.

Since this version of Supergirl implicitly takes place an unspecified number of years after Clark Kent has established a reputation as a journalist, and Superman is already famous and mostly admired around the world, it’s safe to assume that Jimmy is older now, no longer the teenage doofus who keeps almost getting himself killed so that Supes can save him. I guess he could now be featured as the sorta creepy older guy who keeps getting almost killed so that Kara can save him, but I could understand if that’s not the preferred direction of a big-budget primetime show.

I assume that adaptations like this of Supergirl are offered for an audience that either has never heard of her, or better yet, has forgotten about the 1984 movie version. Then again, Helen Slater has a role, which seems like it would defeat the purpose.

I doubt Kara will figure into any future big screen iterations of the DC-verse, so this series might serve as a testing ground for some plot and character concepts that the suits at Warner can refer to in future Superman/JL projects.
