May 16, 2006 at 8:34 pm #28453maxx10Participantwow… thanks for all the nice words folks! I hope to show you a bit more in the future, even if I can't make the deadline I want to finish her anyways, probably not by the end of june though…

thanks fo adding "NSFW" to the title, I tend to forget these things working alone, your stuff is great and I really like what you've done so far, looking forward to see how your stories evolve, I'm eagerly waiting to see the girls in actionCowprobe:
You've gone to the trouble of building her from scratch even
well… actually that wouldn't be completely true, I took DAZ's victoria model (when they were offering a base version for free a couple of months ago…) and worked from there on. I did the non muscular but toned version first aiming to achieve a Jim Lee-esque superheroine physique and then got carried away with the buff version .. her face tries to resemble actress Jolene Blalock (T'Pol from Enterprise).
Currently the toned version has twice as many polygons as the original Victoria model, while the muscular one has around 478000 faces, rougly four times the original Victoria. This basically gave me a nice starting point, and having extracted the basic face poses I can give her some expressions without having to model every single one (smile, mouth open and so on…)… plus I hate modeling, I rather animate 😛
glhturbo and tourist
1) What software was she modeled in?
I use Alias Maya 7 (actually now it's Autodesk Maya…. )
2) How long did she take you to make?
From toned version to full muscular in about a week, but she's far from finished, I'd like to give her some fine detail via Zbrush, and then she needs to be rigged for animation and posing (currently she has a very basic posing capability, and I can't reuse older rigs coz she's too big for them) … I'd say at least 10 more days of work
3) Did you start from a base model, or from scratch?
I cheated 😎
4) Will she be available for sale, or as a freebie, for DAZ|Studio users?
actually I have no idea how to import a maya model in DAZ|Studio, will have to give a look on what can be done

May 16, 2006 at 8:49 pm #28454maxx10Participantgreat!!!!
what software was she done in?
it doesn't look like poser to me, but then i'm not an expert.
i like to get into 3d animation as well in the future, but i do not like the limitations of poser and would like to learn modelling from scratch, so it would be nice to know what program you use.
thanks in advance…
uh… left this one out… well it's a difficult answer, it all depends if you want to do 3d animation seriously and maybe get a job in the biz someday or for just as a hobby.
Poser is a pretty good soft but the animation department is pretty limited and absolutely non standard, currently Maya is the de-facto standard for 3d animation, if you learn how to animate in maya the limit would be how good you are, and might go all the way up to pixar and the big boys. The greatest shortcoming is that when you open poser you start to produce something, in maya you start off with a white paper and have to create the tools by yourself, with poser is like ordering dinner at a take away, you choose what you like and serve it the way you want it, with maya you first have to cook all your stuff, of course it gives you all the tools that a top chef needs but doesn't do the cooking for you, not sure if it's clear. If I was you I'd give a look at 3ds Max, a capable software that has many plug-ins that can help out enormously … and in the near future to modo a really nice app, but currently doesn't have animation capabilities
hope that helps, if you have any more questions feel free to ask, I'll try my best 😀
May 16, 2006 at 11:21 pm #28455JackParticipantI used to do enhancements and even had a yahoo group and a site
So you're Shemuscle? Wow – you're an extremely talented man! I used to really love your extreme morphs and incredible comics on your website. And you're a fantastic 3d artist/animator too? There's no end to your talent! Thanks for sharing it with us!

thanks, you're too kind, and there's an end to my so called talent and that's focus.
I've got an extreme lack of focus, my HD is flooded with aborted attempts and half finished works, that's why I have the utmost admiration for guys like DCM that not only do great stuff but somehow manage to stay dedicated and consistantMay 19, 2006 at 5:49 pm #28460maxx10ParticipantDANG!!! nice one! 🙂 may I ask what program u used, I guess you created her from scratch am I right ?

Hi tigersan, I really enjoy your gals as well especially the muscular elf!
you use zbrush right? if you do, how high do you go with the subdivision level to achieve those nice details?

Well actually I use Photoshop and my "DEAR TABLET" 🙂 thats it. Few days of trying, then later few weeks of fixing flaws on seams and thats it :).
