KeymasterSyfy announced it won’t be picking up a second season of Caprica, the TV prequel that told how the Cylons of the reimagined Battlestar Galactica were born, and that the final five episodes of the series have been rescheduled for 2011.
Syfy released the following statement yesterday:
The remaining first run episodes of Caprica—airing Tuesdays at 10/9c—will be removed from the schedule as of next Tuesday, November 2. These final five episodes of the season will be re-scheduled to air at a to be announced time in the first quarter of 2011, and will conclude the run of the series.
“We appreciate all the support that fans have shown for Caprica and are very proud of the producers, cast, writers and the rest of the amazing team that has been committed to this fine series,” said Mark Stern, Executive Vice President of Original Programming, Syfy and Co-Head of Content for Universal Cable Productions. “Unfortunately, despite its obvious quality, Caprica has not been able to build the audience necessary to justify a second season.”
Hell yeah!!! now they just need to can that Stargate Universe crap and bring back Atlantis, then all will be right with the world….well at least it will be right after my Martina McBride cloning machine is complete but that’s another story

KeymasterRather then a full seasonal series format, they should have gone for a limited mini-series, or perhaps 2-parts movies to tell the origins of the Cylons and just how they became sentient.

Keymastermeh, the whole mind of an angry angsty teen trapped in a prototype Cylon body leading to their belief in one god concept was stupid. This show was a great example of what happens when you try to over-explain something.

ParticipantCaprica was a science fiction show that so desperately wanted to be a soap opera. This plagued the final two seasons of Galactica as well. The whole franchise has simply become too self-important and indulgent. Good riddance.

ParticipantThank god it’s over.
The dullest, most boring show ever to ride the fame of a previous succesful series.

KeymasterNo, as a complete waste of airtime I’d say the worst and most inappropriate programming has to go to the so-called reality based shows like Ghost Hunters, Destination Truth, etc.
In a venue like TLC, perhaps, but certainly not on Sci-Fi.
And don’t get me started about pushing WWE programs there . . .

Keymasterahhhhhhh but it is not the scifi channel anymore, it’s the SyFy channel, which is short for syphilis :p It got infected by crappy so-called “reality” series in an effort to boost their ratings for little cost and stab the loyal customer base they built up over 15 years in the back by totally selling out.
I remember when TLC was actually The Learning Channel not a collection of medical mistake shows, reality TV and other sh*t that has nothing to do with education.
