Are you thinking of doing another Sylph story soon?
I'm sure many of us would appreciate it.
I am thinking of doing another Sylph story. Unfortunately, I can't swear that it will be soon- I kind of work on them as the muse hits me (or, given that I've taken to jokingly referring to Sylph as the muse, hopefully doesn't hit me…) I've been working on a few other projects, you see, and I really need to put a couple of them to bed before I get started on another. :-[ :'(
The other issue that has been slowing me down is, naturally, real life :P- summer vacation is over and I have to return to the task of actually earning my food and housing. Since no one is falling over themselves to throw gobs of money at me, things that I do basically for pure fun end up taking a bit of a backseat to grading papers and making lesson plans.
On the other hand, lauds and ovations work really well to motivate me- pile 'em on, and I might just see what I can do… 😉 ;D

So you teach then? A friend of mine went into teaching, but she hated it, so she's switched careers.
Laud, ovation, laud, ovation… ;D 😉

Laud, ovation, laud, ovation! 🙂
Seriously though, I enjoy the stories a lot.
Sylph a great fun character and you don't get many stories about superstrong girls going about their everyday life without them having to pummel someone from time to time!
September 5, 2007 at 5:17 am #57880stmercy2020ParticipantOkay- well, the good news is that I finally finished one of the writing projects that I was working on- the harder one, too, inceidentally, and it seems to have been fairly well received (not a lot of comments, but the comments that I've gotten thus far have been overwhelmingly positive.) That gives me a bit of motivation to get back to Sylph, since she is far-and-away everyone's favorite creation of my warped and demented little mind.
The bad news is that I have a lot of RL work to do- 3 papers from 3 different classes to grade (sure they're small classes, but that's still over 180 papers, most of them essays, and most of them written with a casual disregard for grammar that borders on sadism) as well as two weeks of journals from one class. I also have an open house to prepare for, 3 pretests to grade (I think I'm going to hand that off to my TA), and lessons to plan for. None of this will stop me from writing, of course, but it will undoubtedly slow me down some.
Anyway, the next Sylph story will cover her first days on the job(s) and what befalls as a result. Given that part of it is going to take place in a laboratory setting and part of it will occur on a construction site, I'm curious what events people would like to see (I have plans already, but if I get some fun suggestions, I'll try to work them in either in this story or in a future one) and also, once again, what name sounds good to people. Drop a line and let me know. ;D

Muscles at work?
Caution: Strong girl at work?

I remember seeing a machine in a lab once which tested metal bars. It pulled them apart until they finally snapped (With quite a bang if I recall). I suppose they must break down occasionally. 🙂
And I'm sure there's lots of interesting things Sylph could help with on a construction site – especially if any of the neavy vehicles break down – cranes, diggers, trucks…
And there's also demolition… so long as she demolished the right building. 🙂
Hey, I'm not saying she's clumsy but mistakes happen. 🙂

Hmmm. Metal fatigue? There's an intersting idea…
I'll see what I can do with that (I think I have an idea how to work it into the lab scene- just have to find the time to actually write…)

*resists to make Fire Melting Steel/Rosie O'Donnell comment… barely…* 😛
