October 12, 2007 at 7:14 pm #61931stmercy2020ParticipantOddly enough, I don't really think of Sylph as a superhero. I suppose she is, though, given that she is (obviously) superhumanly strong (the super part) and unself-consciously good (the hero part).
October 13, 2007 at 4:58 pm #61932Ad_MeyerParticipantBrilliant continuation of the long-awaited (and VERY eagerly awaited too!) Sylph story.
Her inability to even contemplate letting the curiosity kill the cat (literally) makes her such
a sweet super-heroine. 😀I'm sad to hear that you are suffering a little "Writer's Fatigue", announcing this to be the
last 'Official' Sylph story for some time to come :'(. Does that mean I can start thinking up
another fanfic? ;DOctober 13, 2007 at 5:56 pm #61933stmercy2020ParticipantI don't know that I'd even call it "Writer's Fatigue"- I'm still writing, and I do intend to come back to Sylph eventually. It's just that I have no intention of allowing myself to write another Sylph story that isn't at least as good as the worst story I've offered to date (Rat Race, IMHO). Eventually, I hope to do a couple of crossover/collaborations, but I want to make sure there is a good (and believable) story in place before I get too involved and over my head.
As for writing some Sylph stories of your own? You know I enjoy reading 'em, so please go ahead and give it a shot. I'd personally love to see a little more of Wilbur and learn what makes him tick- what he does in his spare time, what he's majoring in, what level of schoolin' he's attained (I'm guessing he's probably working on an advanced degree, similar to Wade, and there might be a degree of contact there as Wade knows pretty much everybody).
October 16, 2007 at 2:10 am #61934The HighlanderParticipantOuch, a dislocated shoulder that is going to be a serious problem. They normally take a lot of brute force to fix, so what's going to happen to someone of Sylph's size and strength is going to be interesting!
One point is how little attention Sylph seams to get from the public. Considering her size you would think she would be being chased by journalists, scientists etc all the time.

Or at least by sports writers, eh? I have thought about that, some, and my current take on the matter is that Sylph doesn't get a whole lot of attention because… I haven't written any for her.
And, yeah, the dislocated shoulders took some fairly heavy-duty machinery to repair coupled with a very competent doctor's delicate touch. Sylph was none too happy about it and confided to me that she hoped she'd never be put in a similar situation to that ever again. At least, she noted wryly, the wreckage in this latest chapter wasn't a result of any accidents that she caused.

It's tragic that her adventures are now going undocumented…
