Terry Moore, who wrote and illustrated, “Strangers in Paradise,” has just wrapped up “Echo,” a 30-issue sci-fi comic about a woman who becomes bonded to a superpower-granting metal alloy. It’s an oddly hard comic to find — Amazon is always running out of copies — so I’ve only been buying the paperbacks as I see them available. And only over the weekend did I find the Amazon growth.

So: By this point in the series, the heroine, Julie, is on the run with an agent named Ivy. In issue #23 (collected in paperback 5), Julie’s putting on new clothes and discovers that they don’t fit. Ivy promises that she picked up the right clothes — size 8. And then she asks Julie: How tall is she?

    “Five foot seven,” says Julie.

“I’m 5’8”,” says Ivy. She’s looking up at Julie, who’s clearly a couple of inches taller now.

Without spoiling much, it seems that the amazon growth is a plot point for the rest of the series. (Again, it’s hard to find, and I haven’t see the last few issues.) Ivy, in another side effect of the alloy, is regressing in age and getting shorter, less busty, etc. So she ribs Julie for turning into an “amazon,” as Julie gets bigger, and bigger — more and more midriff showing, cuffs lifting above her ankles, arms growing more muscular. She soars well above six feet tall, and gets smarter, too.

Has anyone else seen this? A collected paperback is due out in August.

Julie never got into Tambi&Bambi level of muscles
    Those girls were actual bodybuilders
But i love Terry for trying again

Tambi has shown up in Echo though. It’s an excellent series. It’s, as was Strangers in Paradise, a killer story with great characters. If your into it too late get the collected editions. The growth will probably continue until the end which is nigh. But I doubt you’ll see much in the way of muscle.
