ParticipantDenise has always been one of my favorite female bodybuilders.
She always had a jaw dropping physique….looking much more massive than she really was. She was a very generous person….she took in quite a few kids that were left on their own by their parents.
A bit strange how at her prime and expected to be the next Ms Olympia she disappeared. She was seen on the streets of Venice/Santa Monica area and it seems as if she had "found god" according to one account if I remember correctly. She had given up bodybuilding and had stopped taking care of the kids she was helping.
After that there were sporadic sightings of her and some rumors that she had become homeless. 🙁
If anyone can update on her that would be really cool

KeymasterNice augmentation work, thanks for posting! ;D 8)
Last update I had on her was from a 2001 issue of FLEX, and she's the subject of a thread in the Female Athletes & Muscular Women forum.

ParticipantEnjoy!!!
That's absolute top-quality muscle morphing there, jdm!
As for Denise, I'm, not attacking anyone for becoming religious, but she was obviously doing good work already looking-after kids, so why stop and become a recluse when you have a religious epiphany? I may upset people by saying this, but I cannot help wondering if her "religious experience" was actually a breakdown complete with voices in her head which she assumed belonged to the Almighty.May 9, 2008 at 3:09 pm #70032AlexG
KeymasterI don't know, my option of her has shifted slightly over the yrs based on what I've read about and what she herself had to say. My impression is that she was looking for something to psychologically ground herself to, as a core focus, if will. Initially it was bodybuilding, and it seemed to work for her, even getting involved being a "Big Sister" role model / fostering parent.
Then with her last yr or two of bodybuilding, she rapidly rose to high promenance, and I can't help but wonder if she suffered major burn out as result of the pressures of competition. This combined with the more unsavory elements of bodybuilding – sessions, etal – that she encountered along the way. (If I'm not mistaken, I think she did some nude work for Bill Wick.) Probably because she needed the extra money, and yet was a serious turn off to her.
All this, taken in combination, along with the last part, probably was the straw that broke the camels back – and she balled out.
In retrospect, that she drifted into religion doesn’t really seem too surprising – the same thing happened to Betty Page.

That makes more sense – I was under the impresseion that she left BBing abruptly because of her new-found religion, rather than the pattern you suggest.
