ParticipantIt was perhaps an unwise thing to do, but there are people criticising her buffness.

KeymasterI'm going to play devil's advocate here for a moment. I really don't think most of the uproar is over her being in good shape.
Dunno, IMO never underestimate the power of human jealousy/envy and/or intimation in matters of what people find physically attractive, especially concerning those who've yet to come to terms with what turns them on.
Some people might make comments, but the bigger deal is the fact that she's the mayor and she in her undies at a firehall. That is not the most professional thing to do no matter what she looks like. I don't know if she should lose her job, but I'd have doubts about a person who would keep those pictures on her myspace AFTER she had been elected. Your opponents and enemies are always going to look for dirt. She made it too easy for them.
Hmmm, I had similar thoughts, but on this part I'm going to have to go with what Tre Scott said on the other forum:
As long as there are no identifying marks on the fire truck, there is no problem.

Its safe to say that I am not one of those. Selfishly, I wish she had dropped in a flex or two while she was taking pictures, but as to the circumstances of the pics, I've already put my 2 cents in.

ParticipantHer constituants admitted that the photo did not help her case, but they also cite her lack of proven leadership skills. As I mentioned earlier in the post. It really doesn't have to do with her body. She most likely will succumb to pressure and resign as mayor to protect further damage to her reputation.

ParticipantWhen I hit the post button, I knew someone was going to bring Arnold into the discussion, but this situation is different.
That was his profession. He made his money as a pro bodybuilder decades before he ran for office. These were candid shots of a woman in a firehall(government property). Now if those shots had been done by a pro photographer at a modeling session or something like that, I would have no problem with it at all, but they weren't. Everybody is entitled to a private life of course, but when you get elected to office, no matter how small the town is, you are held to a different standard. Its not right and its not fair, but its the way it is. That is one thing that keeps good people from running for office. Nobody wants their life under a microscope.
And I still hold that her buffness has little or nothing to do with the furor. If that lady had no visible muscle definition at all, but still had a nice body, and those shots had come out, the people in the town would still have made a stink. This is about the dues and don'ts of being an elected official, not about how much time the lady spends in the gym.
Arnold could have been a Chip'n Dale performer and it would also be a private matter. The allegations of sexual harassment towards some women would also be have been a private matter. But politics took advantage of it just as it's taking advantage of that mayor.

ParticipantIndeed, she was recalled and fired.

ParticipantCorrection. Just recalled and set to be ousted. She could launch legal challenges. Though IMO, I think she'll just walk from the mayor's office and back to the gym. ;D

ParticipantI'm going to be criticised as being anti-American here, but can I make a point?
How can a country whose action movies contain the f-word in every sentence and have gratuitous violence all the time be so prudish about an attractie buff woman posing in quite conservative underwear? Us Brits are teased by Americans as being sexually repressed, but isn't that a little hypopcritical in the light of this?
