ParticipantThat's a great idea, 10-4, although in the neolithic hinterland that is the UK, conventions are extremely few and far between (unless you're a fan of traction engines, steam locomotives and classic cars). Thanks for the idea though.
It's a good point, though – I'd love to hear tips or ideas from anyone who's been involved in meet ups in the US and elsewhere of how to make them well for everyone.
I think the last convention I went to in the UK was DragonCon '92 when I was but a wee bairn. Met Larry Elmore and begged him to do more Snarfquest but he said it took several times more work to do the comic than a painting but a painting paid several times as much so he couldn't although he loved his fans a lot. The female fighter in the comic strip was very sexy, I seem to remember!

ParticipantHi Guys 🙂
I'll be arriving in the UK (London) on January 7th lugging my two big suitcases behind me in search of a new home.
Hope to meet up with lots of ya anytime after that. I'll have such a dearth of friends at first.Rachel

ParticipantHi Rachel,
Best wishes on your move to London. Hope it all goes well for you.
Do you have a hotmail account or something so I can include your email address in the distribution list for meet up details closer to the time?

ParticipantIt would be kind of cool to meet my fellow Britons but living in Edinburgh, it sounds as if you'll be meeting too far away.

ParticipantYes, I was organising this, but unfortunately a colleague of mine was involved in a serious car crash that has left them in intensive care and since then I've been working two jobs to cover their role since no one else in the company can do their job apart from me and the boss is so stingy he wouldn't hire any support workers for me to train up. (Naturally I don't get any extra money for suddenly averaging 14 hour days.)
At relatively short notice I said I wouldn't be able to make it but was hoping someone else would pick up the baton and try and organise it instead, bearing in mind the interest it had generated. Unfortunately it seems not to have come together so far but I'll have another go organising it in a few months' time when my colleague is expected to return to work. I was intending to get back to doing some morphing and using the copy of Poser I'd bought, but haven't had time to do that either.
Anyway, that's what's happened. I'll let everyone know if there's anything planned in the future.
