ParticipantI still think it's a great idea to have a UK meet up and Rachel's recent post and the responses to it bear witness to that. I wish you well with it if you're going to pick up the baton and run with it, Fett.
I'm still very disappointed that I had to pull out last time and that this appeared to sink the whole project then. The hecticness at work has still continued for me since then even though my colleague has made somewhat of a recovery and I've spent 3 weeks in July in different foreign countries on work for example, so I don't think I'll be able to attend myself this time either, but I hope it goes well for you all.

ParticipantHeh- if you go the distance and make it an annual event, I may even be able to come someday… I'll bet there are lots of people who would love to have a relaxed, easygoing night on the town with like-minded individuals.

ParticipantWe need a list of people who want to meet up.
When do you think you'd be up for it Jack-Random?
StMercy – I'm assuming you're not living in the UK, right?

Safe guess. I've been a couple of times, though, and have friends in Bath and London, so if I ever manage to get back on my feet financially, I'd seriously consider making a trip out to coincide with a UK get-together. I'm goofy that way…

Unfortunately I don't know when I'd be able to commit to a meet while I'm at my current job. It's just far too hectic and I unexpectedly have to travel very often. Sorry. But if a date's arranged and it turns out I can make it, I'd love to come along to something. I'm sorry that that's a crappy answer, but that's just the way things have been and will be for the foreseeable future.

ParticipantRight.
WELL!
I suggest this – Saturday August 18th. Meet outside the Picadilly Circus tube station. 3pm. We go to Waxy O'Connors. A pub just round the corner. It's very nice. Sit down. Get some food. Head on out and see some of central London (like Covent Garden which is a 15-minute walk away) and enjoy each other's company.
Who wants to make it?
I have suggested the 18th for the following reason – it's a Saturday. It's two weeks away giving people time to make arrangements. That is all. If someone says, "Damn, I can't make the 18th, but I COULD make the 11th or the 26th or something – SAY SO AND WE'LL CHANGE IT.
People need to talk.
Who's up for that?

ParticipantNot one single PM or reply, so I'm assuming no one is interested.

ParticipantWell, given that we didn't even hear a word about what happened to the first one – we can only assume people are fearful that if they turn up, they might well never be heard from again.

ParticipantGiven the fact the last one seemed to fall to pieces and even for people IN London, it would take hours to get there, it's hardly surprising that people are somewhat recalcitrant to spend the time and money that would be required to go and meet some strangers who may or may not be there.
