Ya know, I love a really bad scifi movie as much as the next guy, but the homemade SyFy ones are getting downright painful to watch. They make the stuff from the ’50s and ’60s look like Kurosawa productions.

And poor Sean Patrick Flannery, its really sad that his peak was his first major role, The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles.

    50’s SciFi movies are awesome

Syphilis channel movies on the other hand are cheesy crap that is so bad you have to watch just to try and understand how bad they are and then spend several hours wondering why you wasted your time watching it 😛

You know, sci fi(not a typo) used to have much better original movies. The 2 dune miniseries and the Olivier Gruner movies intercepter force 1-2 and velocity trap were good. Heck Dog Soldiers made its US premier on the sci fi channel. But, yes the quality of their programming is steadily going down. Sadly not even The Doctor can help them, for he is on BBC America now.

About the only thing worth watching on SyFy is “Caprica”. I’m not holding out much hope for the adaptation they are supposedly working on of Asimov’s Foundation books.

They’re producing a TV movie based on the “Red Faction” video game series that may serve as a pilot for a TV show, not really thrilled about that was hoping for a decent big screen movie. I watch Warehouse 13 and Eureka but thats about it aside from the occasional Stargate reruns. This Stargate Universe thing is crap. Let’s take the worst elements of Star Trek Voyager, Battlesetar Galactica and Stargate and throw them into one convenient show with boring two dimensional characters, wow what a great idea!!!! :X

Thank you for confirming that I’m not the only one to think so. B)

At the moment, there’s a scattering of better sci-fantasy programs spread out over channels other then SyFy.

    FlashForward, LOST and V (ABC)

    Fringe (FOX)

    Supernatural and Smallville (CW)

Why USA cut the legs out from under The 4400 and The Dead Zone just when they were reaching some sort of closure I’ll never understand. But then, the same thing happened to Jericho, too.

BTW – Dog Soldiers, great film – also another ICE – low budget, but with much better survival story then The Day After Tommorow.

Ya know, I watched the whole first half of the season and only learned 3 character names. Dr. Rush Jonah and Col. Telford…….then theres Lt. Medic and Lt. Hooters, generic angry control freak lesbian, the whore, and the other guy…plus the other people. How sad is that?
The unofficial name for it by the way is “Battlegate Voyager” 😛

FlashForward is gonna get canceled, the ratings have tanked on it.

SciFi, before it became the Syphilis channel (SyFy), built up a core audience showing classic science fiction shows, then when Showtime didn’t want to renew Stargate SG-1 they hit the jackpot by taking a chance on it and producing it themselves. The audience grew and they tried their hand at other shows, some good some that sucked, then like every other network they made money and stabbed their core audience in the back by putting a bunch of other crap like wrestling and now these stupid “reality” shows on to make a quick cheap buck and “appeal to a broader audience”…….because apparently Science Fiction isn’t a big enough genre to support a cable channel for more then 5 years on it’s own.
