Just a scan-over observation, but it seems that the writer and most of the commentary posters are just as put-off, turned-off, intimidated, insecure, jealous, etc (take your pick, any one or a combination thereof) about the artistic fantasy portrayal of muscular physiques, whether they are male or female, as some are about when encountering their real-world equivalents. B)

Certainly bulging muscles have been seen as an overt signal of suitability as a mate (protector, food provider, etc.), and comics have their legions of muscle-bound male heroes… and muscle-bound females, like She-Hulk.

    “. . . legions of . . .”

Really now – I think you could name the femuscular characters on one hand.

    “. . . muscle-bound . . .” I do so hate that derogatory term.

I could’nt tell anyone what a modern age female super hero should look like in a comic book.
I haven’t picked up a comic book in decades.
Forget about the comics. How do you define femininity itself these days? Is it with a muscular look or a “curvy” look?

I grew up with comic books in the ’60s and I loved them but my favorite female character was Vampirella.
Here’s how she looked in 1969:

She certainly wasn’t muscular but she was sexy! -Robert

A simpler explanation is that they are getting a bit tired of the same theme repeating over and over and over and over again. I know that Was my first thought when I skimmed the page.
