    A GSM gateway is a device that serves as a bridge between the cellular (GSM) network and an IP-based telephony system (VoIP) or an analog landline telephone system (such as a PBX or PSTN). Consider it a converter that enables calls coming from VoIP softphones or landlines to be routed via mobile networks and vice versa.
