    Well, the good news is that SOPA seems to be pretty much DOA at this point.

    The bad news is, PROTECT-IP is still out there (many people claim that SOPA was just a sham to make PROTECT-IP seem reasonable by comparison), and even if that fails as well, the media industry will try again some other time, so eternal vigilance is necessary.

    As far as Wikipedia’s protest goes, one of Glenn Reynolds’ readers had an even better idea: since one of the major features of these bills is denying access to IP addresses that are allegedly spreading pirated items, Wikipedia, Google, et al. ought to cut off every federal government IP address from accessing their sites, and they ought to pull the donor lists for every sponsor of these bills and cut them off, too. They would instead be directed to a “call your congressman” page. I like it. :laugh:
