Truth is, neither DC or Marvel really give a [bleep] about what the fans want. The people (within the industry) that really cared about the characters, plot development and especially continuity are all gone, have been for many, many yrs now.
They’re just mulking the characters for as much $$$ as they can, and for as long as they can keep getting away with it.

Not just comic books. Movies and video games seem to follow this trend. They sold the franchise for money.

KeymasterI should also have made mention that there’s also a nostalgia factor involved, what people remember about the characters (although they are not active readers and/or collectors) as apposed as to how they are being currently portrayed in the comics – or movies, for that matter. They’re doing things now that they’d never do with the characters (although around the water cooler might have only speculated about, especially sexual relationships).

An Amish WW? That’s interesting. Maybe in a post-Apocalypse scenario where Darkseid does wipe out civilization the surviving JLAs would be living in humbler settings. Bruce Wayne’s got a cabin in the woods. Clark’s living back on a farm. Diana’s living among the Amish.

That’s not the scenario I described. Plus Clark’s living among the Amish in The Nail, not Diana. However, I’m sure a post-Apocalypse Diana would just form her own women’s collective like in “Top of the Lake”.

ParticipantI had an idea about that! It was called Moonchasers!
The galactic tyrant, Jupiter 33rd, has stolen the Earth’s moon and replaced it with a giant ticking bomb. Diana is the captain of Earth’s last remaining warship. She must venture across the galaxy to reclaim the Moon, along with its colonists. Diana’s own sister, Donna, is among them. Among the ship’s crew are first mate, Steve Trevor, navigator Etta Candy, and featuring the voice of Brad Pitt as the ship’s computer. But while they search the galaxy the giant time bomb slowly ticks away to zero.
Moonchasters! If they don’t reclaim the Moon the Earth will DIE!
