KeymasterIt doesn't really sound that good to me. And 30lbs… that strikes me as a lot. I don't think I want that (it may be 30lbs is far less than I think it is, i dunno). But thanks.
Ah, the classic "I don't want to get too big" objection.

ParticipantAh, I was inarticulate.
I'm aware of the thing where people think it's 'easy' to add a lot of muscle quickly, when in fact, it's just not true. Women are often worried of suddenly devloping huge muscles by picking up weights, and it's nonsense. You have to work hard to grow and I get that. It's not I was worried to get too 'big' in so much as I didn't want to add a lot of bulk. The exercise seems to be an attempt to add a lot of muscle mass, whereas that's not something I'm after, I'm more for toning, losing what gut and butt I have, and only getting a bit bigger. This exercise seems to only create larger muscles, like it'll add more mass without much definition, and bulk me up in a fashion I'm not pursuing.
That said, I may have misunderstood the intended result of 'super squats'.

KeymasterSquats and deadlifts are really extraordinary exercises. They involve big movements of large muscle groups, and as such they're very useful for gaining muscle and losing fat. Working those big muscle groups has an anabolic effect on the whole body.
Lots of men go to the gym, do a lot of upper body work (but no leg work) and waste a lot of time when their bodies would respond better to workout regimes involving squats and deadlifts. So I recommend Super Squats because it will keep you from wasting time. It will also make you feel good.

ParticipantOkay, that sounds good. I'll take a look at this and the crossfit.com site. Cheers, guys!

ParticipantI got super squats today, and shall be finishing the reading of it soon! (Why am I talking so oddly?)
But… Milk?! Lots of milk? Blech. I hate milk.

ParticipantInteresting idea. I've never tried something like this, so I dunno. Neverthess, exercise of any kind is better than none.
What you suggested made me think of the 300, which is hella effective b/c you'll get all the blood flowing in your legs before pounding your shoulders, etc. which makes the work out more effective. Check out Gym Jone's 300 workout (the bad movie) and give it a go. This type of training works well. Good luck and welcome back to the iron game.

ParticipantAh! Resurrection-thread!
Thanks Zapper!
At the moment, I jog to my gym (which lasts 20 minutes), do the Super Squats programme-thing, then jog back. I was doing this three times a week at the beginning of the year, fell out of it during the summer because I went away, and have gotten back into it in the last three weeks. So hopefully, if I can pay attention to eating better all will turn out well. As it is, I never stopped playing football (soccer) three times a week, and I eat probably more than I should, but I eat quite healthily – not too much sweets, no fizzy drinks, etc. So, we'll see.
I think after a couple of months, I'll look at where I am and see about changing the routine, I dunno.

ParticipantMy pleasure friend. ;D
Someone mentioned crossfit, which is truly the cat's meow. Fast and effective. My only suggestion is to scale it to your own level. "Fight gone bad" is particularly fun and a very great workout that is pretty quick although it will stay with you for a few days.
