ParticipantHi there,
I'm bumping this to let you know I've just updated my comic/graphic novel, Same New Woman. This is the last page of Chapter 1 and I hope to have the beginning of the next chapter up 'soon.' http://anarcha.deviantart.com/
Again, thanks to those of you who've already dropped by and commented. I do appreciate attention and suggestions, never enough! 😀

ParticipantYou are so kind, thank you for your thoughtful comments.
I don't know really know what I'm doing but we all just have to start somewhere, don't we? I just try to achieve some inner satisfaction with each panel, and it's so gratifying to see improvement, and comments from understanding others.

It's wonderful. Your painterly style is charming and I love your snapshots of people and places around Marita. The story is reflective, and that – as you've mentioned – is a most unusual blend for FMG… which makes it all the more outstanding. You've captured the slice-of-life feel so well, I thought there were some classic moments, like when Marita couldn't get her bicep through the new shirt sleeve… or having to do a bridge position to get her pants on.
As for pageviews, it's often said in the marketing circle that "no matter how good your product is, if no one knows about it, it won't sell!" So posting here is a good start. That's how I started my 'FM art career' too xD And you can be sure that the good folks here will give you plenty of attention and encouragement to continue and improve your art. Don't expect your art to be perfect, but know that with each new creation, you're taking a step farther along the journey. All the best!

ParticipantYes, so much is about the teacher you are lucky enough to find and your particular learning style…

ParticipantThanks for this thread and great info! 🙂 🙂 🙂
I'm a generally fit woman and have practiced tai chi for 10 years but I have a bad back and some hand/wrist arthritis that makes me feel more vulnerable in the world. I'm going to look into Krav Maga–the knee/elbow and real situation approach looks like it might be a good fit for me.anarcha
ParticipantThe 'sketchier' pieces are my faves. I like the movement of your lines, like they want to fly away but hold together under tension to make the drawing powerful. Awesome work, thanks for posting.

ParticipantThank you so much for visiting and commenting. Until I posted here the other day, the story had gotten little attention over at DA so I was wondering if it was just not baked enough, or perhaps of no interest to anyone else but me!
I was so excited to see your interest and kind remarks that I plunged into a new panel that I just put up at DA, so let me know what you think. My hope originally for sharing "Same New Woman" was to connect with others for whom the story resonates and create a motivating feedback loop–in other words, to draw faster and better. It may not be evident :-, but I'm one of the slowest artists ever. Now I can see there will more panels coming soon!
@ Fett– glad to hear, that is the atmosphere I'm aiming to create.
