technically can’t DCM sue them for plagarizing? if Tetsuko is a copyrighted character then he can. but yeah i was also wondering if he had a T shirt line, i wouldn;t mind getting one!

I remember a conversation once upon a time where it was said (and I think it was by DCM, but my memory is clearly not so great on details) that yes it would technically be possible to sue for copyright infringement, but it might not be a financially viable thing to do to vigorously protect that copyright without the assets of a corporation behind him.

I’m curious too what happened in the end last time and of course about how things will go this time.

Is this the old thing you’re talking about when Katil Luoto wore Tetsuko shirt in this grip strength competition? http://amaz0ns.com/forum/Web-Links/77718-Finnish-Strongwoman-Wears-Tetsuko-T-Shirt

    That’s the one I found.

I take it back. I apparently didn’t start that other thread. luvmuslgirls did, and it was about 4 years ago.

This isn’t the first time, I seem to recall that there was a post here @ Amaz0ns
(A few yrs or so back?) w/ another FBBr or Powerlifter wearing a tank shirt w/ DCM’s Tetsuko on it.

Well, it a curious way, I would imagine it’s kind of flattering for his work to be getting around the way it is. Frustrating might be apt also though.

Alex, I remember the post you’re thinking of as I was the first to post about that one too. I haven’t successfully found it though… Sheesh. I should be the copyright police or something. :S

Also, since I’m the one that started this tangent, I guess I’ll suggest we get back on topic or start a new one. Anyone agree?

Has anybody asked DCM about it? I did notice the use of his drawing, but I honestly just figured they must have licensed it from him. Hope Dave is getting something out of it.

I PM’ed DCM about it. I think someone else did too. It stinks to see his work getting basically stolen.

I’m honestly not sure- it could be, I suppose, but I don’t recall ever seeing that particular style or character from him.

Regardless, assuming it is DCM’s work, the agreement would be between the t-shirt manufacturer and DCM- and, possibly, also the photographer- not Ms. Lau.[/quote

While I certainly see where you’re coming from here, I think you’re overlooking the possibility that she might have some stake in the t-shirt designs or the shirts themselves.

I’m not trying to get her in trouble here, but I do want to see the interests of a long time friend of and contributor to this community protected.

And yes, Kitty didn’t flex in this episode.

You mean “No, Kitty didn’t flex in this episode.”[/quote]

I’m sure you’re trying to help, but I think it’s more complicated than that. The circumstances under which an American would say “yes it isn’t etc” are unusual, for example admitting something that someone else claimed. This is not to say it is wrong to use this form, but it doesn’t sound like colloquial american english. It certainly would normally be structured just exactly that way in some other languages though.

When I was a kid, the Atari 2600 was the game system of the day, then Colecovision, which many people have forgotten entirely. My experience with Nintendo is in playing what I think was the first home version of Donkey Kong. Yes, it was the fact that you said Nintendo that made me ask for clarification, though in my mind it was just possible that if a spinoff were planned that there could be co-themed games planned as well. Remember the Wii? It wasn’t that long ago.

Yes, I was being sarcastic. “My dad works for Nintendo” is pretty much code for “This is bullshit.”

Hadn’t heard that before. Maybe a generation difference… The whole scenario seemed improbable to say the least. But it’s hard to be sure of sarcasm in text. I figured non-native speakers would like to be certain.
