ParticipantDon't get me wrong. Beckinsale is absolutely beautiful and I certainly wouldn't kick her out of bed for eating crackers, but her build is in no manner heroic. She's willowy. (No pun intended.)
Also this isn't going to be a costume-driven movie so whoever is cast has to have the body to pull off a bronze age amazon warrior. It's always a challenge for wardrobe people to design outfits that mimic comic books but don't look ridiculous. The recent movies built on the Batman, Spider-Man, X-Men and even Fantastic Four franchises have all done pretty well with costumes, and the new Superman movie looks to have done so as well. But that line between fidelity and realism simply won't be possible with Wonder Woman, because the bustier is too absurd to translate to the screen. I would be tremendously surprised to see the bustier outfit in the movie as anything more than a gag – a "you-want-me-to-wear-what?" moment when some publicist presents it to the newly arrived superhero as suggested branded attire.
More likely is that Diana will first appear as "Wonder Woman" wearing some kind of Greco-style bronze age armor set reminiscent of what she wore in the Perez-drawn comic from the 80s. And if they update that costume during the course of the film, it will likely be some combo of sports/technical clothing and kevlar/ceramic tactical gear.
To some extent the same thing was tried with the Reb Brown Captain America TV movies in 1979. While the implementation was poor, the idea that Captain America would have modern gear (i.e. the clear polymer shield, stealth motorcycle, etc.) seemed to me very credible.
So if the Wonder Woman movie is set in the modern era, her garb should be modern. That would mean some kind of ceramic armor on her torso, perhaps with some kind of black spandex unitard/sports bra underneath it. Also, she would wear loose khaki tactical pants, and some kind of ceramic armor on her shoulders. Obviously the bracelets would also be ceramic, with their surfaces angled to allow for more controlled ricochet. Her fotwear should be modern material in an ancient sandal style – not all that different from what Nike produces today…
I'm not sure what to do about the tiara or head covering. It may be that the best approach for that is some kind of updated Greek infantry helmet fashioned of modern materials.
I agree that her "look" would suggest Greco/Roman armor bronze age amazon… but I think it would be a mistake to "update" during the course of the movie. I actually like the little touch Frank Miller added to her in the otherwise vomitous DK2…the Greco-Eyeliner she used creating a kind of "mask" under the helmet…
I think Wonder Woman would best be portrayed as someone fundamentally alien to our world and our ways. That's why it's important to cast a european/mediterranian in the role. She's not from around here. Her Wonder Woman persona should be fierce and a little scary… Think Lucy Lawless Xena during her "bad" periods. In her "Diana Prince" identity she would try to fit in "man's world" with funny results, but when she's WW, she should be all Warrior all business. I don't think she'd need a "modern" costume, if her armor is magically reinforced or something.
Another thing, maybe it's been brought up before… but don't you think WW should be a muffin muncher? I mean she's raised on an island of women, but we're supposed to believe she falls hard for the first guy she sees?
At the very least she should be Bi ๐ฟ

ParticipantFunny thing is… the IMDB (Internet Movie Database) just ran a short article indicating that Beckinsdale is "in the running" for the role. A joke gone too far? At least I hope it is… Nothing against Kate per se, but the choice would seem to be …. safe… and that might not bode well for the movie.

ParticipantWhen I read your post I thought someone was copying your work and taking credit for it… WHICH IS AN ABSOLUTE NO-NO! But after looking at the works I dunno….
The worst you can say is that someone is mimicking your style… But that's how a lot of cartoonists/comic artists start out… by imitating their favorite artist or illustrator (Rob Liefield clones out there?). Over time, they can develop their own style/voice and stand out on their own. The works I saw were crude at best and didn't come anywhere close to your style of work. It'd be a different story if they posted your work and claimed it as theirs. Or used your characters without your permission. That's totally wrong. My 2c for what's it worth.
