Yes, Jana (and Chyna) has been a lot in TV but it's an exception (a very good one). I don't see much female bodybuilders in Finnish television or magazines, and as long as I'm aware, the situation is quite the same in other countries – apart from Germany that is.

maybe american bb are to lazy or to stupid to market themselve  ;D

but it is a fact : all succesfull bb actors are german speaking  ;D (arnold, kickinger , schlierkamp , moeller)

That's the point – we don't see FBBing as extreme, but it is compared with the rest of the world.  This fact leads to the realisation that FBBers are incredibly difficult to market to all but a small minority – us!  Even at its late-'80s/early-'90s height, FBBing was a minority interest, but, at the top level, it is now so extreme that it is losing even its previously reliable fanbase.

every sport in the top level is extreme..the more extreme better it sells.
or did you hear usain bolt running next year 11 seconds, because this would be better for fan base ??

the problem why fbbs (or male bb ) are not marketed in the media lies in the history of the sport:
weider did have a contract with the most of them exclusively for their magazines…they were slaves to the weider publishing with contracts not allowing them to do shoots for any other newspaper or tv.

as opposite with vince mcmahoon: he knew how to market their biggest women…chyna still has the most sold playboy issue !!

the problem is not if a fbb is bigger or not , it is just the organization.

if your theory would be true, we would see a lot of figure girls in the mainstream media ;D

As I've understood, some want to get back to the good old days. Cory Everson, Rachel Mclish and so on, but I just find it weird that in other sports there would be bigger and more muscular competitors: it's just against the whole idea of bodybuilding.

i think most of the people that tell this stopped thinking in the old ages  ;D
what most of them forget :
rachel was the best of her time…and in her time also there was discussion if she was to big for a woman
