Call me close-minded and paternalistic but I tend to get like that when I see someone I care about doing something they're likely to regret – like smoking or damaging their health and appearance with roids. I think the "I respect your decision" line is a big cop out.

By comparing tattoos with smoking and stroids you've done yourself a big disservice.  Although a scar may be troublesome it's vastly better than lung cancer or a wrecked liver.  I still say it's up to the individual, as, indeed, it is for smoking and steroid use.  Lingster may well feel faint if he reads this, but denying people's right to decide for themselves is the first step to Communism.
