Hey, I'm back!

How'd I get interested in trains?  (Both steam and diesel, I assure you)  Through a family friend who is a huge expert on our local railway history and an avid railway modeller, that's how. 

Well, I had a good time.  Apart from the abcess on my tooth.  That's another story, but we went to some fun places and ate a few naughty but delicious things, and the area was beautiful and tranquil which was a good thing s we had all had a hard-working year and needed to switch-off.  Thanks for the good wishes!

Now, is there anything I should know that's earth-shattering around here? 😉

I still say I'd love to see the MM become more popular.  Elena Oana does it a lot, and Kira and Megan have done it too, but I'd love to see it become more commonplace.

Where're you off to?

An especially pretty and interesting part of my fair country called the Cotswolds.  For the American audience, think of the classic English landscape that's sold to you in the travel literature and you won't go far wrong.  It's northwest of Oxford, in case that helps.  Honey-coloured stone buildings, rolling hills of arable fields (hillier and more of a patchwork quilt than the flat, large grain fields of my home county, and somewhat posher too).  Regrettably, there's little indetifiably regional foodstuufs there, but there are one or two nice farm shops that sell local produce and some good railway interest for the locomotive buff in me.
