I wasn't aware of the lessening standard of strength-related performance in baseball, as I know next-to-nothing about it.  Just shows what happens when a sport that's ridden with steroids cleans-up.  I expect to see something similar happen in athletics soon.

As for Amanda, I agree with the sentiment expressed that we should wait for concrete news.  I was one who, on reading the confident statements on the MD forum, jumped to the conclusion that Jacobs did it.  It was an honest mistake, and I now have a more open mind.  All I will say, though, is that, had she not been scared of the guy, then she would still be alive today, irrespective of whether he or someoneelse pulled the trigger.

That Dallas News report from earlier this year linked in the MD forum http://www.dallasnews.com/sharedcontent/dws/news/localnews/crime/stories/042508dnmetsteroids.1bf9157.html makes it seem that he was in up to his neck.  It's a testiment to the power of love that Amanda stayed with this fool in the way that she did.  Sadly, it seems to have been a fatal error. :'( :'(

Not necessarily.  The Boston Herald and other papers are saying that the Police are unsure as to whether that was what happened, or whether a third party was responsible.  Looks like we have a wait to understand what went wrong in this ghastly case. 🙁

We seem to be going through a really bad patch, don't we? ::) 🙁  I mean, it wasn't long ago that we were feeling the loss of Shelley Beattie, and now this.  Such a shock when the evils of the cold outside world butt into our community in such a stark manner.  How must her family be feeling, particularly after warning her about him?  My heart goes out to them.  He was obviously a deranged guy who didn't deserve to share his life with someone like Amanda.  This is just so sad. :'(
