ParticipantReading the posts I have to wonder if anyone here bothered to read the comments posted by the people @ RX, who are involved in the sport.
Based upon what I've read here there seems to be a disconnect, with some, not all, to distinguish between their fantasty and the reality about muscular women – what it takes, and what it can cost them.
As to what's wrong w/ FBBing, especially the size question, well I think post #180 by "FitBodyBC" summed it up quite well.

This is pecisely the point, an why, with all due respect to him, Maitolasi isn't 'getting it'. Yes, seeing Usain Bolt run 9.6 seconds is more spectacular than seeing him run 11 seconds, but he doesn't end-up with boobs and a high-pitched voice because of it, nor is he growing a vagina. These are the closest things I can think of that could happen to a guy which replicate what happens to women on high levels of GH and androgens. Heavy, square jaws, enlarged noses, heavy brow arches, high foreheads, coarse skin, facial stubble, deepened, gravelly voice, clitoral enlargement, acne…the list goes on. If the rewards were great and public adulation followed, maybe it's worth it, but reading "fitbody"s post, she spends $430 per month on chicken and egg whites. This years' 4th-place Ms. Olympia prize money was $4000. As the American members here would say "you do the math".

ParticipantAnd I don't like the way that usually BBing is represented as an extreme thing. It's just a sport among others.
Then again, if FBBs are easy to market, how come they get so small awards?
That's the point – we don't see FBBing as extreme, but it is compared with the rest of the world. This fact leads to the realisation that FBBers are incredibly difficult to market to all but a small minority – us! Even at its late-'80s/early-'90s height, FBBing was a minority interest, but, at the top level, it is now so extreme that it is losing even its previously reliable fanbase.

Participantand what about chyna ?
raye hollit ?Their popularity was partly due to their era – FBBers and buff women were more popular because
a. it was more fashionable then
and
b. the background was of FBBers that looked like buff women rather than men – the size is a secondary issue – the main reasons for the decline in popularity are extreme dryness at contests compared with ripped but healthy-looking contest shape in the 1990s and the effect of excessive GH and steroid use.

ParticipantBravo, sir, bravo. Now what we need is for you to go out and educate all the science journalists in the world, to try and avoid this kind of bullpoop ever littering our papers/Internet/magazines again!
Thanks Fonk – I got the feel for junk science from New Scientist.
