David C. MatthewsParticipant
A big “NO!!” on tattoos.
Especially on women.
Especially on women bodybuilders. I want to look at muscle, not ink.
I don’t understand why – and this goes for bodybuilders of either gender – someone would go to the trouble and effort to build a magnificently muscular physique, then obscure their hard work with tattoos that fight for the eyes’ attention.
David C. MatthewsParticipantYou’ll find a lot of fans here – tall and/or muscular women are what we’re all about!
David C. MatthewsParticipanttechnically can’t DCM sue them for plagarizing? if Tetsuko is a copyrighted character then he can. but yeah i was also wondering if he had a T shirt line, i wouldn;t mind getting one!
I do have a Tetsuko T-shirt available through Cafepress… also keychains, a wall clock, and a mousepad.
David C. MatthewsParticipantI’ve sent the following email to The Drive clothing company:
My name is David C. Matthews, and I am the artist responsible for the piece “Female Muscle Pinup” seen here
It has come to my attention that this artwork is being featured on apparel your firm is selling. This art has been altered (cropped and converted to grayscale) without my permission, without notice of using my artwork for commercial purpose, and no offer of any compensation whatsoever for my rights in my artwork.
Your unauthorized use of my artwork is therefore violating my rights in this artwork, and I must therefore demand that you immediately cease all sales and marketing of any and all products featuring this artwork.
David C. Matthews
I’ll let you know what reply they make (if any).
David C. MatthewsParticipantFound the company. Manage to search the web and this company has the logo that matches DCM’s artwork.

here is the image:
Thank you for the info! At their site I found an email address (info@thedriveclothing.com) I can write to and (I hope) get this situation settled.
I’ll let you know how it turns out. Once again, many thanks!
David C. MatthewsParticipantHas anybody asked DCM about it? I did notice the use of his drawing, but I honestly just figured they must have licensed it from him. Hope Dave is getting something out of it.
No, I haven’t. They haven’t asked my permission, they haven’t paid any money, they just appropriated my art without even the courtesy of a note saying “hi, we’re gonna be ripping off your art, hope you don’t mind.”
Does anyone know how I can get in touch with the T-shirt manufacturer?
David C. MatthewsParticipantOh wonderful. Another casting call for an FBB to play… a villainess.
This wouldn’t gall me so much except that almost every time a woman bodybuilder is cast in a major movie, her role is either 1) evil, or 2) insulting to FBBs.
I didn’t see Kick-Ass, and this makes me want to pass on this one as well.
February 15, 2012 at 1:19 pm in reply to: Lynsey Beattie would like to be cast as Ms. Marvel #106352David C. MatthewsParticipantBritish people play Americans all the time, just look at the show House with Hugh Laurie as a perfect example.
It’s not her accent that’ll be the obstacle to her playing Ms. Marvel, it’s her physique. Much as I’d love to see it happen, no frickin’ way is a “mainstream” movie producer casting a muscle-woman in a heroic role in a movie.
(Who, me? Cynical? What makes you think that?)
David C. MatthewsParticipantnice page and damn you DCM for leaving us readers on a cliffhanger like that!
Heh heh heh… 👿
