Hello, I'm new to this board and was just looking around and found this thread. I've never really thought about it, but you guys have a point. I've been writing in the female strength genre for a few years, but my naturally super strong characters fall into the fickle or emotionally dependent strength explanation. One other explanation that is sort of related is that maybe the character would be strong but not in shape. I have a character who is strong and her very resistant to injury, but that doesn't mean she couldn't get overweight or out of shape so she works out using her 'normal' strength.
