Dayum. For young 'uns like me thats. Wow. Thats a long time ago. So is this the golden age of FMG? :p

Please don't beat me with your walking stick.

Maybe as far as art goes, yes. The "sport" itself it circling the drain, and FBBs are spiraling downward into the realm of "freakish internet fetish" objects.

@_@ Comission prices these days.. oye..

To be fair, those prices are pretty reasonable. Back when I did commissions I STARTED no less than $100 apiece for pencils, and routinely ran up into the $200+ range for colors. The most I'd ever made on a single commission was $850.

One of the things that always struck me about She-Hulk is how unremarkable she is in black and white. Unless she's in color, she's virtually indistinguishable from almost any other musclegal out there. :p

For bump maps, be sure the base color is 50% greyscale. Veins and the like will rise up out of the texture, so they should be lighter than the base grey. Stuff like striations and other things that dig into the muscle surface would be a bit darker grey than the base grey. You might even want to drop a bit of a mild 'noise' pattern over the base grey to simulate irregularities in the skin and make it appear less shiny (a common problem in most 3D modelling is a synthetic, plasticky look).

Everyone's got their preferences and I realize that an image like this might not get as many comments as some of my other stuff, but I'm okay with that. I just go where the pencil takes me, and each piece knows when it's done, with or without my approval. Still, I consider this piece among the greatest works I've ever done.

Sometimes when we change our direction, it causes us to fade into the background. This might be the case with me, but I'd rather go with art that I like to do instead of pushing myself in directions that I'm not happy with. I mean, after all, I think that's why I started doing FBB art to begin with. What I should probably try and do is find a more specialized board to post this sort of work to in addition to here.

I agree with the impracticality, but I'm irrationally still partial to the long hair.  Have you ever considered just doing the base body as a layer and then doing piercings and hair in separate layers?  You could create different versions fairly easily that way.

I don't do layers…I do pencil on paper, and then I scan it in. :p I don't really do different versions of the same image under normal circumstances; If i'm going to draw something different I may as well just draw something entirely new. Still, it's not as if piercings can't be erased, but after modding the image and pulling off all but the earring hoops, she just looks like she's missing something as far as I'm concerned. I didn't like that version such to the point that I haven't even posted it anywhere.

Long hair's just not my thing; plenty of guys on here work with long hair, but I wouldn't count on me joining that group. I'm just not a fan of long hair on muscular girls, and it's not a point I see myself changing. I guess you can say between the short hair and the body adornments, I'm filling an even smaller subgenre of an already small fandom to begin with.

Love the realistic size and I love the off season look. But damn were stucjk with short hair for now? Piffle!

Honestly, how many pics have I done with long hair? :p I'm a fan of short hair as well as body piercings, when done in moderation. I'm a big fan of tattoos as well, but I'm not so good at tribal designs (which are the types I like the most) so I don't use them too often.

As someone who's HAD long hair before, it's very impractical and even more of an annoyance when combined with the fitness lifestyle, which is another reason I rarely draw it long.

Thanks to both of you. This kind of feedback is invaluable inasmuch as knowing if I'm hitting my intended marks. The body piercing thing is actually a holdover from one of my ex-girlfriends, Kei, whom I dated in LA over a decade ago. I was never really into it before I started dating her, but she changed all that…it's true that not everyone looks good in piercings, but boy she sure did. Every time I do a piece that has more than just the ears pierced, you can bet I'm thinking of Kei. :p

Great looking and looking forward for more off season looks. Going to create new characters for that or use some that you already have?

Probably some new ones; Andrah's been at the fore of my off-season movement for awhile already, and I did have some other characters at my DA gallery before I shut it down. I tend to stick with a lot of the same characters though, and Tanya is probably going to be the main focus of the off-season look for the time being…so you long-hair fans are kinda outta luck. :p

I'm more of a character creator; knowing the character's story beforehand helps me to determine a lot about the characters appearance and nuances.
