    Wha–? Please clarify.

Or a milk crate! Making a person appear taller is not the hardest thing in the world to do. Or do you actually think "John Rambo" is tall?

Obviously "best" is subjective (which is painfully clear from some of the suggestions in this topic) and few of us are bound to agree which actor's best for the part, but it would go a long way towards showing that even "Amazon-at-all-costs" fans have some intellectual integrity, if someone could talk about others' choices with some insight into filmmakers' ability to create illusions, and let go of the weak "too short", "too waifish" cop-out, and the "dream" that this character will be portrayed with any measure of muscle that we'll find acceptable.

The best choice would satisfy the requirements of the role and do it justice. Baccarin was Whedon's choice for a role in one of his creations. Wonder Woman's different, not one of Whedon's creations. I have been reading tons of bboards on this and Baccarin's clearly not the majority choice. Only Serenity/Firefly fans and fans of Whedon's work actually nominate her. I don't see any of the traits of Wonder Woman in her and I know I'm not alone. She has the face of a child and she wasn't that great in Firefly anyway. Wondy should look like a young, yet ageless and womanly Amazon. Baccarin's pretty, but not Wonder Woman.

Filmmakers should not be cheapening the audience out of a great performance by a real actor with real physical similarity to this role. If they can find people that can resemble Superman, Batman, or Spider-Man, then they should be able to find a real flesh-and-blood actress to fill Wonder Woman's boots. I understand that movies are "magic and make-believe", but master filmmakers use reality to create movie magic and don't rely on too many tricks or costly special effects. If you can do it in reality, then do it.

Wonder Woman is a dream in of herself. She's not real, but you can find people out there that approximate the looks of these kinds of characters and help sell the "reality" of the character's world. I'm sure that the majority of people who post here would be considered Wonder Woman or superhero/heroine fans in general, and they would rather see a real woman who actually does the acting and fills out the costume instead of a woman who has to be enhanced (or not, look at other casting choices which the character should be taller, but they don't bother becuase they like the actor they chose to "mold" the character into) because they didn't put out any effort to find a far better choice.  I just don't feel Baccarin can deliver the gravitas and belivability to the role that I'm sure someone with more experience and a better look can provide. I'd be willing to see the movie if Baccarin's casted, but I'm sure that many people would feel as I do and think that there is a far better choice out there and they missed the opportunity to actually cast Wonder Woman rather than Joss Whedon's version of Wonder Woman.

I read, in an interview with Whedon, that he would be faithful to Wondy's physical specifications. That means that he will cast an actress that is very close to Wonder Woman's height and her physique. Wondy's 5'11" according to DC, hopefully he'll get a woman who already has some muscle or will insist that whoever they cast should beef up a bit before they shoot. She won't end up looking like Marja Lehtonen, but she'll probably look like a reasonably muscular fitness model, much like they tend to draw her in current comic runs.

That's no excuse to find the best actor for the part.

CGI shouldn't be used to allow for a poor casting choice. I've heard this argument another bboard. CGI is too expensive and time consuming to be used in such a way. There are actresses out there that can fit the bill for WW's physical requirements. Baccarin just doesn't work. She looks like a 12 year-old with a woman's body. She's too short and a waif. If they stick Baccarin or some other unworthy choice, like Sarah Michelle Gellar or Eliza Dushku, it won't work. Whedon's buddies should not be cast in this picture just because he is the writer and director, and that's even if his draft is greenlit. I have a feeling that Whedon'll use this as a vehicle for one of "his" actresses or that they'll cast some popular, teeny-bopper waif like Lindsay Lohan. I just hope that Joel Silver and the rest of the production staff will actually cast this one wisely. There's a great opportunity for this to be a great comic book movie, they just have to seize it.

I don't get the fascination with Morena Baccarin for this part. She's tiny and looks like a little girl. She doesn't have a majestic, goddess-like look to me, nor does she look amazonian. I've seen this argument in a lot of places online. Baccarin should not be Wonder Woman, I don't care how much she trains, she doesn't have the look to begin with. I'd like to see someone with a more mature look in this role. Unfotuately, it looks like Whedon wants to cast her. Hopefully, he'll buck the feeling and choose someone with more acting chops and a better look.

I agree with you guys, too. Back on another website about Superman, there was a lot of uproar by die hard fans about the look of the dude playing Superman. They raged about the suit and his build, along with his hair. Most fans don't really sit well with even the most minute change to their favorite things. As an admirer of the rippling forms of muscle women, I'm sure they'll disappoint me with their choice for Wonder Woman. I just hope that they don't stray too much from the canonical costume like they did during the Cathy Lee Crosby shot. I'm sure a lot of die hards will be up in arms about an unrecognizeable WW. We're kind of having the same discussion about WW being cast over at the Superman dedicated website, too. I posted the idea of Jelena Abbou for the role and no one seemed to care or like her, so I'm sure they'd be opposed to someone muscular in the role. That bites.

I was never a fan of Whedon's work. Something about how he tells stories turns me off. I just keep thinking Whedon's not the guy to do a Wonder Woman movie. He even said that she's not like his other characters. When you blend a character that most people know to be a certain way, people are going to expect that character in certain situations. I think Whedon'll take the wonder out of Wonder Woman and make her more like Buffy Summers. I hope I'm wrong.

My GF had the same deal. Her family was dead-set against her looking like a bodybuilder. I had no problem with it, I love her the way she is, but if she wanted that, I couldn't lose. I'm attracted to her now as she is a full-figure woman, but I'm not going to complain either way. I think she was inspired my a character I created for the novel I've been working on for the past 10+ yrs. Since my GF was part of the inspiration for the character, I guess it seemed fitting. I guess I feel as lucky as your husband does with you.

As long as there's at least someone out there to support you on your endeavour, then you have all of the support you need. The rest has to come from you. Maybe, in time, when they see that bodybuilding makes you happy, your family and others will support you. Remember, have faith in yourself (and even God, if you choose) and you will have the strength to do whatever your heart tells you to. I bid you peace and good luck. It takes a lot of courage to try and do something new.

I guess noone thought Jelena Abbou was a good choice? Hello!!?? The farenheit model?! Oh i give up.

She would be, but I don't think they'll cast her. They never cast women like this for these roles. Heck, they don't cast MBBsfor roles like these. The're going to pick someone mainstream, more than likely some waif who couldn't fit Wondy's bra let alone flex any sort of muscle.

Don't be surprised if they choose Lohan or some other mainstream actress. They're going to want an actress who can act first before they worry about her looks. They'll get her to train for a while, but she won't be our ideal. Same as with Superman, they got some skinny guy and got him to pump up, but he's still not quite big enough for Superman. Nobody casts these parts right.
